The reason for the drinking age being so high is because the brain develops well into the twenties. Lungs stop growing when body finishes, so therefore the drinking age being later is much more logical. Maybe not the nicest thing, since there’s the “people can make their own decisions” argument, but if we’re talking age minimums, it’s a logical decisions. Drinking can impair the brain permanently, and it’s especially bad when it’s still developing. Therefore they aren’t being allowed to impair a part of their body that’s still going, whereas the lungs which are affected by the smoke are fully developed.

Really, I don’t think it’s local at all. I used to work with a guy from Wisconsin and every one in his family said “eh”. As for the Aussies saying “g’day, mate” a lot of them do. So many in fact that I have even started saying it. Or, just “mate”. And lastly, why can’t Canadians say about instead of aboot? What’s up with that?
