Ahhh the Yugo. The pinacle of communist/socialist cars. About as safe in them as an Israeli wearing a “Muhammad is a terrorist” t-shirt in Mecca.
I did have a Diesel VW rabbit, and if you were having problems cranking it below 40, you needed to change the glow plugs, or the relay timer for them. Sometimes you had to spin it a little more, but mine had over 400,000 on it and ran well. It may be the reason I have hearing troubles, but hey, it got like 45mpg.

I wasn’t totally clear in what I said.
I am sure Winston Churchill did say it, but I don’t know if it was original with him.
For example, he did talk about “An Iron Curtain….over Europe” (his Fulton speech), but I believe someone else had used the expression before.

VF: Not against Title IX in theory, actually all for it, equality is equality. It’s the way the schools are implementing the law that I have a problem with. Lots of smaller schools have had to cut some male sports (maybe not soccer) or raise tuitions (which makes them less competitive).

SB: Probably right, however then the choice would squarely be hers, and the law would be fair. However I think people would be surprised at how many Dads would step up if not forced to. I think there’s a stigma out there that men don’t care about children, which is similar to the “women belong in the kitchen” stigma. It just isn’t right.

I used to be one of those people who didn’t know how to pronounce Worcester. The St. Louis Blues used to use the Worcester IceCats for their farm team. Someone had to explain to me what the hell the Wooster IceCats meant. Kinda embarrassing. English continues to be the stupidest language ever.

Also, Worcester is in Massachusetts, too. Seeing as we steal all your names, and stuff.. People spell it wrong all the time though, and write “Worchester” even though they don’t understand it’s pronounced “wooster” and not spelled phonetically.

Perhaps no money for a lawyer who could fight the good fight, perhaps state laws that are extremely prohibitive, perhaps an ex wife who throws everything but the kitchen sink at the ex husband and uses the kids as pawns in a very ugly game, perhaps a job that makes it difficult to get that equal time due to no time to be away from work to take care of the child, perhaps no one to keep the child while said father is at work……..

I may be wrong, but I think it was discovered and exploited first in Europe. Napoleon had a tea set made of it, it was so rare at the time.

Worcestershire is a county division of England, and it is pronounced in educated English as “Woostersh’r”. The sauce is therefore “Woostersh’r Sauce”.
“Worcester” (pronounced “Wooster”) is the significant town of Worcestershire, and gave it its name.
Presumably in certain parts of the USA where English may be spoken in a way more like the UK English, this original pronounciation remains.

I note that searching on Google, I get several spellings as “Worchester”. This is not found in the UK – maybe it is Americanised?

I write this from the South Coast of England.

The same comment/reply at the end of this “blog” (is that the right term?) was because I am unfamiliar with how to point my reply at the right place. Sorry.

Gates’ ID was inside the house, not on his person when Crowley asked for it, that’s why he went into the kitchen to get it. This is documented.

Crowley did not ask Gates to go outside until after he had ID in hand. This is documented.

Gates went outside with Crowley. This is documented.

The basis for the arrest was that Gates was shouting and creating a scene OUTSIDE THE HOUSE. How does that work if he refused to go out?

I think that anti-abortion groups would be dismayed at your reasoning. If fathers weren’t legally bound to contribute to the upbringing of their children, I imagine fewer men would live up to their obligations. If a pregnant woman knew that the law would not support her right to keep a child and also receive assistance from the father, I would assume the rate of abortions would increase.

Slan: If you read my earlier post, I told you why it’s typical police procedure to ask the individual to come outside.

Corwley needed to verify Gates did actually live there. In some cases of divorce, child custody, etc the male can have ID saying it’s their address however they have no reason to be there.

Gates screwed up by not listening to the officer.

That’s my biggest problem with the liberal agenda and radical christian right’s agenda, “If I find it moral, it should be law.” What I was saying is that a good father would willingly play child support, however he should not be forced legally to, IF the abortion laws stay the same. My point is, if it’s her choice, then it’s completely her choice. If she chooses to keep it he pays for it, however he has no say in the matter.

Title IX was written to equalize academic opportunity, by the way. That if a school/college received federal money, they could not deny any female student an academic opportunity which they were offering to their male students. I’m a title IX baby. I experienced one year of single-sex PE class and ‘girls take home ec, boys take shop’. It was totally bogus. I wanted to learn to use tools, not how to file my nails (real class!). The next year, it was back the way I thought it should be. And in high school, they had to create girls’ teams–but we got shorted on things like athletic training…

The main thing I’ve seen lately is women’s rowing. In the last ten years there has supposedly been a drop in women’s high school rowing but a surge in college women’s.
A friend of mine went to UA and walked on to the rowing team with a scholarship that payed 3/4 of her schooling. She had never rowed in her life! School’s just give out money to programs there isn’t real interest in just to make it “fair”
