It’s not used in combat so often now as many weapons come ready equipped with Bipods. It’s just some weapons (like this one as I believe, although I could be wrong) is a Barret .50 cal sniper rifle. I was actually given a shot (pun not intended ) of one by someone from the Royal Marine Commandos and it has a hell of a recoil, or perhaps I was just weaker in those days

No, they don’t. I can’t think of any particular levels off-hand (though Halo 3: ODST jumps to mind for some reason) but I’m sleepy and just woke up, so give me a break. I do, however, know, that there are some levels where you have to do the mission with weapons and equipment totally unsuited for anything.

Haven’t played it but I bet Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, with its emphasis on super-realism, will have cruddy equipment.

Actually this is called initiative (and also something else but I can’t remember the word but it means making up a solution for something out of what you have to hand) But this is something that you should be trained in in the Military, in fact anyones Military. In fact the user of one person as a support for a machinegun has been ongoing since probably even before the Second World War (The German Army during WWII used to use this method quite often, however unlike the pair here the only protection the poor bugger being used as a mount for a MG34 had was to stick his hands over his ears. Doesn’t really protect you against the sound of a machinegun going off in your left ear does it )
