For all of the confusion on the make/model of this car:

This is without question an early-mid 90′s corolla, base model(DX). The symbol is confusing you because this is specifically a JDM(Japanese market) model. In Japan, Toyota markets different cars that are well known(the crown and corolla are two examples) as their own brands and, to give these models some identity, creates new badges for them. That is not a mazda, nissan or subaru badge-its a corolla badge.

Japanese used cars, ESPECIALLY(in fact, primarily) toyotas are commonly found in developing nations, especially in African, the middle east and the caribbean. Some of them find their way to Australia and new Zealand to due to their value-that is why you see this car so far from home. The corolla is a VERY commonly imported model.

My city utility bill is $338 this month, and that is not even the biggest one, by far. But keep in mind I have 5 kids. And the youngest is Autistic, and is not aware of bowel movements until it’s too late, so we wash a lot, and have extra showers.

There was a father who did that…and got onto Route 128 (3 to 4 lanes in each direction for most of the highway). Car seat fell off of the car, but the kid was totally fine–GOOD carseat. Very tired and very upset father. Not to mention the driver behind him, who was borderline hysterical.

You guys are going to make me upload a pic of the 76 3/4 ton GMC pickup I got for my 13 and 14 year olds sons to repair, then use as their first vehicle. Because that is the very reason I chose it for them. I figure they will scrape 2-3 Prius’s and Mini Coopers out of the grill every week. And Smart cars are small enough to get sucked in the 4 barrel carb, and not even alter the idle.

Ok, so there are too many threads complaining about this to comment on them all, so I’m just posting it down here. Several people are commenting on the fact that some of the environmentally friendly vehicles are not in fact environmentally friendly. Yes, this is true. Here’s an idea. Since all motorized vehicles harm the environment in some way, shape, or form, then you should do the “greenest” thing possible- walk.

Let me know how it works the first time you have to leave town.

All I can say is the first time you feel the gear slip when you are driving you better drive straight to a dealership and hope they don’t notice. I don’t hate Dodges. I still have an 88 D100 that was my grandfathers, but they do have a lot of problems with transmissions. My brother-in-law worked as a mechanic for a Dodge Dealership and he said they were constantly replacing transmissions in the Caravans and Durangos.

I had an 89 Civic that I bought when my El Camino quit working. One day I stopped to eat lunch and when I came back out the thing wouldn’t turn over at all. I lifted the hood to check the battery connection and everything looked fine. I finally realized it had something to do with pushing the brake in when I tried to start it or something. I went back out to close the hood, forgetting that it had a stick holding it up instead of the hinge on the El Camino, and bent the hood in half. I was so mad at myself for doing that, I just held the hood up and punched it back into shape. The funny thing is there was one little dimple on the hood from that. Otherwise you never would have known that I doubled the hood over within the first week of ownership.

My first ever major wreck was in a 1972 Chevrolet step side pick-up truck. The one with the long wheel base. I t-boned a Ford F250 that pulled out in front of me. The front clip of my truck was a little bent and the radiator and the fan had to be replaced. The Ford was completely totaled. I will never forget the look on the Ford passenger’s face as this behemoth of a truck slammed into his side of the truck……it’s funny now because no one was hurt

That old ’72 (three on the tree, baby!!!) is still running today. *has a tear because I don’t drive it anymore*

Yeah, apparently we’re ALL going straight to hell, I guess with the very limited exception of the people handing these out! Some of the descriptions are painfully priceless, though, to the point where you’d think it was parody. Must be slow drivers, the Prius has some good get-up-and-go, more than my manual Honda Civic anyway The new Prius has a 0-60 of about 10 seconds, and gets 50 mph. Pretty sweet.
