Uh, thief is a legitimate word, even if you don’t agree with it. LOL FAIL.

    • fw says:

      True, but theif is not.

    • “No, Brian. It’s i before e except after c and when sounding like a as in neighbor and weigh, and on weekends and holidays and all throughout May, and you’ll always be wrong no matter what you say!”–Brian Regan

      • Blarg says:

        MOOSEN!

      • justacarolinian says:

Yeah, ooops. I missed that. Chalk it up to early mornings.

        • dissimilitude says:

Admit it, JAC. You made that sign for her, didn’t you? ;-)

          • justacarolinian says:

And I even stayed in the lines with the big marker. Maybe that’s what got me, you know those things will make you higher than a Georgia Pine.

            • That and spray paint. The things we did with the spray paint while making decorations for Turkey Day back in high school later made me scratch my head. I mean, a gold Cardinals hat AND tennis shoes?!

              • the_original_shortright says:

funny story involving spray paint and a closed room…

on my college campus we had a wall that you could hang bed sheets on and use for advertising etc. we called them sheet signs (really creative, right?). but for big philanthropy events you would make sheet sign contests. whoever made the nicest/fanciest/most creative sheet sign would win.

my freshman year, i had just joined my sorority… and the big delta gamma philanthropy event was coming up and they had a sheet sign contest. so my sisters and i decided we were going to ROCK this contest. since several of us were art majors we figured it’d be a no brainer. the basement of our lodge had a rec room where we did all the painting and stuff. so for the purposes of secrecy we closed ourselves in the room for about 7 hours while we were painting. we used regular paint and spray paint and permanent markers and all sorts of other stuff.

in the end we were all super impressed by our work. we’d painted an entire pirate ship with a burly “sexy” pirate on it and had a treasure chest and everything. it was awesome. we were convinced this pirate was totally sexy and hot and proportionate.

we closed up the room and went upstairs to crash for the night. the next morning we went downstairs to look at the sheet and do last minute touch ups before hanging it. we opened the door and looked at the pirate and all started laughing hysterically. his torso was twice the length of his legs and we’d given him these crazy beefy popeye arms. we’d even put chest hair on him, in neat little curly q’s.

we touched him up to look a bit more proportionate and hung the sign.

we won the sheet sign contest and hung it up in our living room for the next while. but we also decided that the “closing the door for secrecy” idea was a bad one when paint is involved.

                • The Steve says:

I learned the same lesson spray painting a styrofoam Mayan pyramid in my parents basement in high school.

                  • the_original_shortright says:

i never had good luck spray painting styrofoam… something about the mixture always made the styrofoam shrink.

                    • The Steve says:

Yeah, I discovered that. In my case, it added to the realism of the erosion of the pyramid. I’m sure it added to the intoxicating fumes as well.

                  • Isildo says:

A while ago my restaurant was redecorated. I think they should have just closed down for a day to paint everything, but for some reason they just decided to have painters come in the mornings before we got busy. Fortunately I’m a night shift server, so most of the fumes had dissipated, but apparently the morning shift was quite entertaining. Take tos’s sailor and turn him into an attempt to take and relay orders accurately.

              • AC says:

Our school was kind of scabby…. When we were using oil paint we used white spirit instead of linseed oil…And we washed our hands in it… And used it to get paint of our clothes… And tons of it went in the sink. Every time the hot water ran you got all the fumes. The teachers all had weird headaches…. Apparently you’re not actually allowed to use it in schools. Oops.

            • Higher than a Georgia Pine…I like it! Definitely stealing that one JAC. Speaking of thieves :)

      • guest says:

Something we agree on. Brian Regan is great.

  2. Win to the captioner. Stop whining, republicans, what is good for the country is subjective, and the majority voted for it. You may not agree with it, but you gonna have to wait.

  3. Cuddlee says:

What’s wrong with these people? They want to get a message across and don’t even care about spelling? Are they fine with presenting themselves as illiterate to the whole interwebs?

  4. sopranomom says:

And again, rather than arguing a real point, all the liberals can do is point out spelling mistakes. And what’s good for the country is NOT subjective. That’s why when taxes go up across the board, things get worse. That’s why when the President expresses his intense dislike for our Constitution and works daily to undermine it in any way possible, things get worse. That’s why we have gone up to 10% unemployment and why we are loosing the war now. We have a President who is more interested is shoving “health care” down our throats whether we want it or not (and more than 55% DON’T want it… that would be a majority) and whether or not it is illegal to do so…. well, he’s so interested in doing that that our troops are being killed because he can’t get off his butt to make a decision about if he should send more troops to the Middle East, or call them all home… so they just wait, with their hands tied, to hear what to do next.

    • Cpl says:

Yeah, but he has decided. He wants to send ‘just enough’ troops….

That sort of logic never works when doing battle. Overwhelm them or get out.

      • Smurf says:

The Russians lost over 14.000 soldiers killed in Afghan before they got sick of it. So far, the US toll is minuscule in comparison. This should encourage Obama to lose a few more here and there. The English got sick of it there, as well. Americans are smarter than both of those inferior races… it’s just that Americans go with Henry Ford: “All history is bunk.”

        • TheOne says:

Just do what we should have done in Vietnam- claim “Victory” and get the hell out! But since the military didn’t vote for him, Obama will just let them wither on the vine…

      • Semperfidd says:

It may come as a surprise but I am not a big Obama supporter (/sarcasm) However, I don’t think that Obama is being foolish waiting a few weeks to see what the outcome of the current election situation over there is going to be. Im gonna go throw up now..brb

    • You’re right. They should all be brought home. No more waffling. Bring them all home.

    • FaileV says:

because “the president is a thief” is a real point? You sir may actually be arguing real points, the sign maker however, is stupid.

    • LULZ says:

      lol loosing

    • VictoryNotVengeance says:

I don’t think any liberals are pointing out anything. I think someone saw some idiot proudly holding a misspelled sign. It’s funny. It was posted as a laugh. Not a liberal laugh or a conservative laugh. Just a laugh at people in the news, holding up poorly spelled signs. It would have been funny during the Bush years. It’s still funny now. If I saw a picture of a WWE fan holding a “Sean Michaels Rocks!” sign, I would still poke fun at them. I just think you need to get off your high horse, because many of your points can easily be argued both ways. Look, I’ll show you…
      1) Working to Undermine the Constitution? (heard that on both sides. Patriot Act anyone?)
2)55% don’t want a public option? Well more than 50% voted him in and that was one of his big items. Maybe the republican think tanks and their “death panels” were able to scare some minds into change?
3)Our troops are being killed? Yeah. Obama started that war.

I mean come on….. do -you- have any -real- points?

      • Veteran AND Patriot says:

        Yes I do …
1 The Patriot act was passed by BOTH sides

2 You already HAVE a public option, buy health care or don’t. Government mandated health care is now and always has been un constitutional. This includes Medicare and the SOCIALIST security system. (also implemented by a Democratic administration along with the criminal FED and the criminal IRS)

3 Yeah Obama voted in the Senate to START THE WAR. And he promised to end it when he got into office. He didn’t so he is also a liar.

oh and p.s. he also voted for the Patriot act too.

        • dissimilitude says:

Maybe we should think outside the box on this health care thing and just outlaw health insurance. Watch that $300 your doctor’s office tries to charge for a quick visit and a little simple blood work come down to something reasonably connected to the work performed.

          • justacarolinian says:

HEY! BINGO! WHOOOOOP WHOOOOOOOP! BEEEEP BEEEEEP

We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen!

            • sopranomom says:

And the whole reason our insurance is so expensive anyway, is because the government can’t keep it’s greasy little fingers out of it to begin with! They won’t let you buy insurance (health or car) from anyone you want… they say it must be from these carriers, in these areas for you ONLY. I’m in VA, but I like the quotes from a major carrier in TX… sorry, SOL. You can only buy from here, or here.

              • n00bs says:

And don’t forget that the government underpays medicare bills so doctors and hospitals are forced to make it up somewhere, like they do for illegal aliens who can’t pay.

              • Stephanie says:

In fairness, that’s because with the federal government out of health care, the states step in. The laws in TX are probably more regulated than yours, and if you could buy insurance anywhere than guess were all the health companies would move? I can tell you it won’t be the state that requires them to cover the most people for the least amount of profitable money.

          • guest says:

I actually grew up without insurance and my parents would always ask for a cash discount when we had to go to the doctor. We usually got it. Doctors and hospitals know that they overcharge for their services because they know the insurance companies will pay their part and the insureds will usually skip out on their deductible or co-pay. That’s also why most doctors make you pay the co-pay upfront now. Insurance companies also have a set amount they will pay for each procedure and if the hospital or doctor tries to price gouge them they will only pay that set amount. The bill is usually adjusted to reflect the limit so that the insured doesn’t have to pay the difference.

            • Actually, that’s unusual, although I suppose it’s always worth asking. Generally, the insurance companies get to (as you note) set the price they are willing to pay and the self-pay patient gets screwed for the full amount.

I will add that if it takes some time and making payments to cover your entire co-pay or deductible amount, the medical provider (or their collection agency) will keep right after you until every dime is paid, including taking you to court, so I’m not sure where you’re getting “insureds usually skipping out on their co-pay.”

              • Mina says:

Um, SOMEONE I know has done it. It’s not that hard.

                • Sorry, let me rephrase that — I could see it going over ok with a doctor maybe, but I can’t see it with a large practice or a hospital….do you know anyone who’s managed it with a hospital, out of curiosity? I salute them if they did!

                  • Mina says:

Well… in a round about sort of way, yes. But it wasn’t that long ago so it remains to be seen if they (the hospital) are going to persue “the person I know” for payment. And I can tell you right now, they can kiss “the person I know’s” behind.

              • Absolutely. And if you do have to take extra time paying your co-insurance or co-pays, some doctors will stop seeing you. Learned that the hard way.

Although my wife’s OB/GYN does have a discounted rate for those without insurance. He can afford to do that with the insane amount of money he makes from the stuff he does.

            • Stephanie says:

It depends on where you are, though. I had insurance last year, but because I actually got sick (with a hormone related disordered that could not have been prevented) and my insurance rates went up so far that I had to cancel everything but emergency care. Despite offering to pay in cash, my doctor refused to even set me an appointment, saying there is little she could do at this stage that wouldn’t require testing and possible surgery, and I don’t have that kind of credit. She suggested waiting until pain presented itself and going to the emergency room. Actually, she called the hospital for me. So then I owed them for an ambulance ride and five hours waiting to be seen, a blood test, and nothing. They don’t make any sort of bill reductions, either, not even when you explain that no doctor ever actually saw you.

I swear, we have the worst medical system I have ever seen…

        • VictoryNotVengeance says:

So what youy are saying is that the same -can- be said for both administrations? Just making sure.

Btw, you can’t scare me with “socialism”. I love it. I wish there was more of it. And each time I have the option to vote for it, I will. In fact, if there was a candidate who I was aware of that ran purely on a socialist ticket, I would still probably vote for him. Hooray socialism!

          • dissimilitude says:

            I couldn’t be a socialist. I’m too antisocial. ;-)

            • VictoryNotVengeance says:

              Dis, I got nothin. :-P

            • justacarolinian says:

              I’m no Communist!

              • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Wow. Rednecks, banjos, a morphing Obama Demon, and a bible quote to top it all off. I am amazed that this isn’t on repeat on Fox. If that is the “not communist” side, sign me up for the hammer and sickle!

I’m just kidding. I’ve already signed up.

                • Jonathan says:

Then ends with a bible quote.
                  Ticks every box for Fox!

                • justacarolinian says:

Wow, you stoop to new lows man. What an intolerant diatribe. It’s ok to be open minded, as long as everyone agrees with you.

                  • sopranomom says:

Isn’t it amazing how FOX news is the enemy? The Taliban, Socialists, murderers, rapists, Bin Laden… but 1 cable news channel…. THAT is the real enemy. Because they actually research their stories and give both sides the chance to talk about it…. Wow… what zombies they be! Because they don’t take what the Prez says, and what other politicians say and tell us that “That’s all there is!”… THIS is what they are afraid of… Must be something to it, then.

                    • VictoryNotVengeance says:

As if thats the only enemy…. geez…. you give fox too much credit.

Oh, but socialism isn’t the real enemy.

                      • n00bs says:

                        No, socialists are!

                        • I thought it was sociopaths who were the real enemy.

                        • n00bs says:

                          They’re pretty bad too…

                        • TheOne says:

No- the lawyers are the enemy. Now if Obama would just work on our screwed up Legal system, limit lawyers fees, stop “catch and release ” of criminals,….

                        • If I haven’t mentioned it yet today, The One….I don’t like you.

                        • Nobody does, diss. Nobody does. But after his last post, I don’t blame you.

                        • DRH says:

“Socialist sociopaths” is the final answer.

                        • TheOne says:

Why? Because you are an Lawyer? Try to find one who will see you for less than $200 an hour and a $1500 retainer up front! And you gripe about what doctors make- maybe my wife should tell her patients they have to put up a retainer first before she’ll see them…

                        • Did diss gripe about what doctors make? I don’t remember that one.

                        • When socialist sociopaths socialize, the terrorists win.

                        • See, The One, that’s just what we tell annoying assholes we don’t want to represent. Sorry to have to let you in on that little secret of the legal community. ;-)

In all seriousness, fees (and when we want ‘em) depends to a large extent on the type of practice and case. With a few exceptions (non-appointed criminal representation, for one) most of the lawyers in my office will either speak on the phone with you or sit down briefly with you to at least determine what kind of case you have, if any, and then set a flat, hourly, or contingency fee agreement accordingly.

                        • Rando, I’ve griped about how much medical care in general costs….which I’m guessing you’ll agree with me on.

And to clarify on the criminal representation thing, that’s one area where nobody in my office is allowed to do anything before we get the money, because, duh, people who go to jail are really bad about not paying, and once you’re on the case, you’re pretty much stuck.

                        • No1askedme says:

Just because sociopaths are somewhat insane doesn’t mean they’re bad people. It’s just that you only hear about the “bad” ones on the news and other media. They’re just different. Perhaps you mean psychopaths?

                        • Well, it doesn’t go with the socialism/socialists joke very well. Sorry.

                        • charro the Floydist says:

Psychopath is the previous term for sociopath.

                    • wallFly says:

sopranomom – what you should do is look up the very same stories fox covers, if it’s about a bill, read either the actual bill or the portion that pertains to the topic at hand, then compare that same story (or stories) to what BBC, AP, Stars & Stripes, CNN and (omg) MSNBC have covered on the same thing. You’ll find that there are sometimes occurances of fox doing the right thing and covering a story but more often than not they’re slanting it to a severe degree. Go back and read that last long posting debate on this, i don’t want to repeat all of it. Just saying, don’t just blindly believe Fox news because it’s what you like to hear.

Beyond that… I dig your name.

                  • VictoryNotVengeance says:

How was this a low? I was open minded. I watched the video you posted. I listened to the words. I found it pretty funny. I commented summing up the things that made it funny to me. So… what are you talking about?

I mean…. I knew what kind of stuff you were going to post. I mean… its you. Just by pressing play I was proving my open mindedness. Seems like you are the intolerant one. You post a video on a lol site and I make a joke about it and its “intolerant” and a “new low”. You embarass yourself when you do this man.

                    Simma down now!

                    • dinserdinser says:

In defense of the video, that Obama-demon graphic made my day. Not for the reasons you might think though. The very idea of a demon morphing president will make the nations shudder in fear. Being a president: amazing. Being a shapeshifter: Uncanny! A shape shifting president? No words to describe the sheer awesomeness.

                      • VictoryNotVengeance says:

I didn’t even not like the video. I found it quite funny. Its just takes a few posts to convince JAC that I am not trying to argue with him.

                    • justacarolinian says:

You are the embarrassment. You just labeled people as redneck, knowing nothing about them. A banjo doesn’t automatically make you redneck.
You are intolerant of anyone that doesn’t share your views. And had to throw Fox in it, just for a jab. You just can’t stand that people don’t want Communism for a govt.

                      • dinserdinser says:

I wasn’t going to do this, but I must comment on the scripture at the end of the video. Jesus wasn’t talking about people that further a socialist agenda when he refers to “false Christs.” That is twisting scripture.

                        • justacarolinian says:

False Christs, falsely anointed. The scripture doesn’t say one word about socialism, but rather the Obamasiah complex he has.

                        • The Steve says:

The only people I ever hear referring to Obama as any form of messiah are those on the conservative religious right who hate him.

                          Why is that?

No one worships him. Nobody thinks he’s Jesus, he’s black for crying out loud! Besides, everyone knows Jesus was Jewish, how can he be Muslim and Jewish at the same time?!?

                      • It has come to my attention that you may be an accentist. I will be protesting outside your house with a neatly executed sign (with glitter) until you are properly educated about regional linguistic diversity and its lack of correlation to intelligence.

                      • dinserdinser says:

Please make sure that you have “i” before “e” first, or you will wind up on the internet.

                      • VictoryNotVengeance says:

You calling rednecks dumb? Half my family owns clothing specifically referring to themselves as rednecks. They would be very upset.

But…. while you are in front of my house…. we might as well chat a while. And glitter you say? Sounds fancy!

                      • Ah, good point — I thought you were implying redneck = dumb, but I may have misinterpreted!

                      • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Nope. I got no problems with rednecks. Just a portion of them have political views differing from mine. And one of them was singing this song.

                      • justacarolinian says:

Grandpa Jones is no kin to me, and he does have a hair lip. Doesn’t make him a redneck. Nor does “twang” in the music infer anything about intellect.

                      • VictoryNotVengeance says:

No one said twang did have anything to do with intellect. But it certainly has something to do with redneckness. I have never met a self proclaimed redneck that didn’t speak with a dialect of some kind. Usually southern-esque. And oh the country songs where they brag about being a redneck with that same twang. I never said they were mentally anything but “grandpa jones” and me still wouldn’t get along politically.

                      • justacarolinian says:

Who DOES get along with you politically? Joseph Stalin?
And yes, some of the current crop of hollywood wannabe idiots call themselves rednecks. And there was even a time when that meant a hard worker, their neck red from working long days. But it’s an insult now.
And if you think yankees don’t have accents, you need a box of Qtips and a bottle of peroxide. Clean yer ears out boy.

                      • VictoryNotVengeance says:

No. Stalin wouldn’t get along with me because he wasn’t a socialist. Lenin probably would though. Also, a majority of my friends are pretty close. I think everyone is different.

Also, its only an insult because you like trying to start crap with me. Now… yankee…. thats been an insult for a while now. First by the British, then by the South. You really are a hate monger aren’t you?

                      • justacarolinian says:

Actually, it was you that replied to me. You like starting crap with anyone on here that you can bash, in a twisted chance you might get to sprout that world domination plan of yours.
And even Diss got the same inference I did. So it wasn’t just me.

                      • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Oh thats right. Just replying to you is starting crap. I forget that with your infinite tolerance and hugely open mind (and mouth) that you would be so offended as some commentary on your video. I also think its funny that I have never spoken of any domination at all, but you seem to keep bringing it up. And the only people I “bash” on here are the ones who say something or post something that leaves an opening for a joke, or are offensive enough for me to directly comment about. Your video was a bit of both. Get over it.

                      • justacarolinian says:

Like I said, I wasn’t the only one that caught the insult.

And by caught you mean misinterpreted?

Not at all, I stand behind my original observation. You have a bad attitude towards people who aren’t of your mindset. The whole, “well read” rant backs up the original.

                      • My wife and I get along pretty well politically, except she’s actually a little more liberal than I am. ;)

                      • Well, here’s the thing about rednecks/hicks/hoosiers (we call them that here, sorry, Indiana), etc. Just like EVERYONE ELSE, the intelligence isn’t an issue. It’s the schooling. Some rednecks live in nicer towns and are able to go to good schools (like my kids). Other rednecks have really crappy schools and end up going nowhere, like the school my wife went to before she moved up to the super awesome magnet school. So it all depends on where you live.

                      • justacarolinian says:

Yeah Rando, the schools in my little town have 2 that have rated in the top 25 in the nation, several years at a time. And just 2 towns over, some very troubled schools. All the while, Charlotte NC schools require guns and chains. And that’s just the pre-k.

                      • And that’s the problem with the schools. I know throwing money blindly at the issue doesn’t work (we’ve seen it fail in St. Louis), but there is still a very strong connection (at least here) between the quality of local schools and the income of the area. And it just helps perpetuate those low income areas. How can these kids ever make something of themselves if their schools are going to fail them generation after generation?

                      • justacarolinian says:

Radno, money doesn’t solve poor parenting. God, I wish it did. Charlotte has such a high rate of convicted felons in school, that it’s scary. And they refuse to do anything about them. One of the local hosts keeps a list on them, and how often those same kids get arrested, again, and again, and again, and again, and again. And did I say again?

                      • That is a good point. But lack of education can contribute to bad parenting too. I didn’t say CAUSE it, but contribute to it sure. Some of these neighborhoods and towns just have generation after generation of people making the same mistakes over and over. And especially with some of the poor neighborhoods here (and race doesn’t matter, it affects black, white, hispanic, everyone), those generations are getting closer & closer together. And situations like that do breed the sort of welfare abuse that the Republicans hate so much as it’s all so many of them know. Proper education would help so much in that area.

                  • Dude-ette says:

“Wow, you stoop to new lows man. What an intolerant diatribe. It’s ok to be open minded, as long as everyone agrees with you.”

                          In 2 words, “HELL NO.”

                        • Well, there’s a difference between “intolerance” and any implication of whether or not it’s appropriate to tolerate something. Standing against communism is intolerant of communism, as in “you don’t tolerate communism”.

I’m intolerant of a lot of things, most of which I think are BAD things, as you, JAC, feel about communism.

                        • justacarolinian says:

Sure Diss, like you can be intolerant of some bacteria trying to kill you. Technically that’s not tolerating it, but intolerant in the context of fighting something bad is different. And Communism is not compatible with the US Constitution. I’m intolerant of pedophiles, but that is not the common context of intolerant.

None of what I have ever said is “weird”. Hell, I only even wish it was new. My beliefs have been said over and over throughout history. The only problem is that whenever anyone tries to start something like that, it either falls apart before it begins, or it is destroyed from without by people in power so that they maintain power.

Trading 100’000 civilian lives to avenge 3’000 American lives is not what I call winning (or a war for that matter). Ah but who cares, they were not American, that makes them inferior and expendable, right?

  5. dinserdinser says:

I’ve noticed that many of these pundit kitchen funnies have been aimed at protesters. While it is rather hilarious to see some of the more obvious misspellings on the picket signs, I can’t help but feel that perhaps we scoff a little too much at them.
    1. For every misspelled sign, there are many more that are grammatically sound (and sometimes even witty).
    2. Many of these people are out there on short notice and have to make signs on the fly. I suppose a little peer reviewed spell checking couldn’t hurt, but I digress.

    • justacarolinian says:

Glad to hear someone else say that.

    • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Short notice?! What, they looked out their apartment window and saw a protest marching down the street? Said “Hey! I wasn’t Infromed of that by Fox News! Quick. Someone give me a giant piece of yellow poster board. I want to go call Obama a Theif!” Nah. I think this was just a noob spelling error, and she should be laughed at for it.

      • dissimilitude says:

Well, you might have a friend call or text you and say they’re on their way to a protest and ask if you want to go there with them. I suppose.

        • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Maybe…. but every protest I have ever attended I knew about in advance. I mean… a riot… maybe unplanned. But a protest? Definitely.

          • dissimilitude says:

I’m not saying the protest was unplanned, just that maybe not everyone had planned in advance to be there. *shrugs* Heck, I can even see potentially driving past a protest and thinking “Hey, I agree with them!” and stopping to participate.

I’d be the first to admit that I’m entirely more likely to just think, “Huh, cool!” if I pass somebody protesting something I agree with and go on with whatever I was doing anyway, but I’m not terribly demonstrative.

            • VictoryNotVengeance says:

And the one girl who didn’t know, mispelled a word, got her picture taken, and posted on PK. That poor girl…. Just wasn’t her day.

I am not saying there are not spontaneous protestors. Just seems unlikely. Do you keep posterboard and large black markers wherever you go just in case? Now that I think about it…. Its actually a really good idea…. I think I am gonna do that when I get home. Put that stuff in my car. Thanks diss! You have once again sparked my imagination! And this time, it was clean!

              • dissimilitude says:

Lol…glad to be of service. I usually have jumper cables, fix-a-flat, and a bunch of fast-food napkins in my truck, but I don’t usually have poster board.

              • justacarolinian says:

So VNV, out of the thousands of signs that are correct in spelling and grammar, wouldn’t you think Diss’s idea probable? I’m quite sure there are more signs spelled correct than not. And that goes for Lib or Con.

                • VictoryNotVengeance says:

I think her idea is possible. I think it is more likely that the person holding the sign didn’t check her spelling. And I am certain there are a vast more correctly spelled signs. But they aren’t funny enough to make PK. I mean, if there was a really witty sign, by all means, bring it on. It’s not like I have to worry about democrats and republicans. They are just opposite sides of the same conservative coin for all I care.

                  • justacarolinian says:

It’s not like a witty sign would make it through the voting process. Seems certain people are sure to vote them down, and focus on making Teabaggers look stupid. And of course, vote down any left wing agenda errors, can’t have the truth actually be exposed.

          • charro the Floydist says:

            There’s a riot going on..

      • dinserdinser says:

Most certainly, it is a noob spelling error. That’s hardly the point though. Whilst they are out exercising their government given right to speech, we are laughing at her for getting two letters in reverse order. This isn’t nearly as egregious as it could be ( i.e. “there” confused with “their”). I suppose that this would have been really funny if this was a protest on school funding, at least then we could make fun of some sort of irony. Get it? Misspelling a word on a school related issue. Hilarious. Move over Saturday Night Live, I have the jokes that will make the whole world laugh. Yeah.
Going back to my original point, I approve of people getting active in their politics, even if sometimes a letter or two is a askew in one sign out of hundreds ( I just made that statistic up, don’t quote me). I do believe that she should be laughed at. Laughed at in real life, that is. It changes the whole dynamic of the humor when it is paraded in front of thousands of internet viewers.
One last thing, I wish to stick to my guns about the “short notice” comment I made. As I have experienced in the past, when ones is on the campaign trail, at a political event, or even a concert the excitement factor drowns out the spell checking factor. She may be from out of town and made the sign late at night in her hotel room. I know I am giving her the major benefit of the doubt, but I feel that someone needs to in light of these kinds of PK funnies.

        • VictoryNotVengeance says:

“Whilst they are out exercising their government given right to speech, we are laughing at her for getting two letters in reverse order.”

          You are correct.

        • Rattus says:

I too approve of people getting active in their politics. However, I approve substantially less of people who do so without at least a minimum of thoughtful consideration, which would result at least in properly worded signage. Your average knee-jerk reactionary, however, tends to end up with signage that looks as though it were made for mommy/daddy by their subnormal toddler.

          • dinserdinser says:

However, what is both sad and great about this country is that no matter where your political IQ lies, you still have the right to expression. While you may find it offensive that the sign is a mere blurb that expresses little to no thought value, I am trying to make a more neutral approach and ask that we give these people a break (but not demanding it, as that would infringe on your right to speech as well :P ).

    • bitter troll says:

perhaps fox news should start passing out pre-fabricated signs to the protesters then, so they seem smrater

        • justacarolinian says:

Funny, I don’t see the Fox News label anywhere on that sign, or even mentioned in that article.
And obviously the majority of the Teabagger signs aren’t printed ahead of time. But, if someone knew about the rally/protest ahead of time, and printed some up at the local shop, what would be wrong with it? Nothing.
How many prefab signs are passed out by Acorn, and/or other leftist organizations? I would imagine a check of the financial records would show thousands. Be sure to criticize them when you see them, and falsely accuse MSNBC of passing them out.

          • Dude-ette the Beatlist says:

This man is absolutely correct in his assessment of the “President” as a thief. Never has a President and a Congress and a Senate so blatantly stolen the peoples tax dollars and moved so completely towards Socialist ideals than this administration. you know what’s ironicly funny (and maybe a wee tad bit scary) is v AND p’s post up there, especially the last two lines, really come across as something straight out of a nazi handbook. i mean, really, associating a religious movement, a jewish one at that, with unamericanism, is just a few short steps away from saying jews themselves are unamerican and should be removed.

i wonder if he sees the correlation… actually, the more i think about it the more v AND p’s rhetoric follows that old dude who shot up the guard in the holocaust museum in DC not too long back.

How come when I protested Bush, noone called me a patriot?

And all the points you made are old. I have already explained in my repsonce above so I won’t do it again, but every point you made above could be countered with the exact same points being made during the Bush administration against Bush.

Actually many banks have since repaid the government loans to releive themselves of the strict regulations on bonuses attached to the bailout money by the Obama administration. (The Bush bank bailout had no such strings attached)

        Veteran,

        1. If Medicare is socialist, then so is Tricare – and our retirement pay, as well… It comes straight from our neighbors taxes – we did not contribute one penny to a retirement account for ourselves.

        2. The $700 Billion ‘Bank Bailout’ was W’s baby.

President Obama’s second ‘stimulus’ package was given out in the form of $800 tax cuts for families earning less than $150,000 a year and $250 tax refunds to all Disabled Veterans (did you cash yours?) and plowed back into the economy to get things moving in the right direction (which they are).

If it’s OK to spend a Trillion Dollars building schools, bridges, roads, power plants, hospitals, oil refineries, etc. in Iraq… Why is it suddenly ‘stealing’ to spend the same amount on your own people in your own country?

        3. I may be wrong, but aren’t ‘Zionists’ Jewish? Has President Obama now gone from being a secret Muslim, to a member of a ‘radical’ Christian church, to attending a Synagogue?

        4. As far as ‘throwing mud’ on a Patriot, who gets to decide who is a Patriot? War protesters are portrayed as ‘anti-American’ but President protesters are suddenly ‘patriots’? Double standard much?

Desert Storm, check. Somalia, check. Iraq, check. Afghanistan, check. Do I get to be a ‘Patriot’ even though I disagree with you?

What issues? You think that sign counts as the opening gambit in a “argument” even if it was spelled right?

      • Yeah, I don’t think calling the president a “thief” is really making a point, just being snide. But you know, taxes are evil. Unless of course they go to funding our troops getting killed in the middle east. THAT’S okay. But helping out other Americans, well no, you can’t do that!

        • justacarolinian says:

        • Veteran AND Patriot says:

Again , helping out other Americans is noble when done BY OTHER AMERICANS it is thievery and TREASON when it is done by a government whos Constitution strictly forbids redistribution of wealth (also known as socialism) under the guise of charity. Look up charity and i think you will find it is not the collection of taxes from one segment for the express purpose of doling it out to another segment. You asshats need to get past your Gubment’ edumication and actually aspire to be more than the least common denominator that you seem to accept of yourselves. You want to help out other Americans? You ever donate to soup kitchens? You ever spend time helping the homeless? You ever go volunteer at an Orphanage? You ever do anything but support Socialist agendas and feel good liars? You ever actually attend an anti war rally? Until you do shut your mouth and suck your thumb. And when you do any of these things I will applaud your efforts. Until then ….

          • VictoryNotVengeance says:

I think you forget that the Constitution was written by the well off and powerful in America. The land holding, slave owning elite. It’s no wonder they would speak out about redistribution of wealth. How else could that ensure that they stayed rich and powerful?

Oh, and yes. I do donate to foods banks, I am a serving member of Habitat for humanity, I was part of the Boys and Girls club for years. I was at several anti-war rallies.

And yes. I do support any socialist agendas I can. I only wish Obama was one of them. If I could vote harder to the left I would. In fact, I may have to write Obama a letter thanking him for his quasi attempts at doing something people can pretend as socialism, just because it means I get to type it a lot on PK.

            • Veteran AND Patriot says:

I haven’t forgotten anything. The Constitution was written for all by men who knew that they weren’t perfect and that governments were always corrupt. They may have been well off as you say however they also knew they were in the position to do something FOR their fellow man and not TOO their fellow man. They also knew enough to do a term or two and step out of the way. They used to understand that serving in Congress and the Senate and the House of Representatives meant going to Washington from where they were from doing what the people asked of them and then going back home. this cleared the way for someone else from their home area to come to Washington with the newest ideals of their constituents. BTW if you enjoy socialism so much there is a place you can go to see how well that works out. Ever hear of a little place called Russia? On the other hand I would love to have you come to my house and attempt to collect my money to forcibly distribute to others. I’m not sure how well that will work out for your teeth though.
As far as your charity work bravo for you. The comment I made was not directed at you in those terms so please refrain from attacking me with your Anti American speech.

And… did you just threaten me? You know…. maybe being a veteran AND a patriot, you would have learned a few things from all your ‘experiance’. • Sigma says:

So what was Soviet Russia? Communism is socialism last I checked.

His ‘Vet’ friends may be disappointed because a lot of U.S. Military personnel are liberal punks. Even if he is a ‘childish undisciplined youth’ he wasn’t as childish and undisciplined as you are now. The founding fathers knew times would change and believed that all blacks, whites, reds, and yellow people would (or should) be living in a state of equality. but no we’ve got these bureaucrats running things and whiners saying the white man is oppressing them because they’re too lazy or full of pride to do anything about it.

                  • “So what was Soviet Russia? Communism is socialism last I checked.”

Nope. Not the same. I can’t rattle off the differences off the top of my head, but maybe I’ll look it up later if I’m feeling motivated. Which isn’t likely.

But the USSR was not real communism. The Soviets used communism as a tool to control their people. That’s not how true communism is supposed to work.

And what makes you think the founding fathers knew our society would change? Especially in the ways that is has?

                    • Sigma says:

Because they knew, for one, slavery had to die out eventually and people don’t want to be restricted by the rules set in the Constitution if something needed to be done. Therefore, they came up with the Amendment process.

                  • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Well… I’m glad you asked. Soviet Russia was -neither- communist nor socialist. There was a revolution that occurred which put in place a dictatorship. This dictatorship was supposed to implement the change to socialism. However, the civil war that immediately started, brought on by those noblemen who still craved the Tzars power (btw, the US supported them) and Germany advancement in WWI kept that from happening. Then, only a few years after the war ended Lenin, the socialist dictator died. The thing is you have to have peace to implement the kinds of social changes that Lenin wanted to make, which is why he pulled Russians out of WWI to begin with. What happened when Lenin died was Stalin, who was not trusted by Lenin to have the reins of power because of his previous abuses of authority, convinced the party to let him take over the country by telling them he read Lenin’s will and Lenin picked Stalin, which wasn’t the case. Stalin, the now rogue dictator, went about his terrors and called what he was doing “socialism” and “communism” which it wasn’t. He was simply a dictator. America and the western world just latched onto the term to show Americans “what communism was” as a fear tactic to make sure Americans didn’t get any crazy ideas about actual equality. Same as today.

Now, is socialism different from Communism? Yes it is! Socialism is the process of withering away of the state. The theory is that the “state” as we know it was created by the bourgeoisie as an armed barrier between them and the proletariat. The state, which is comprised of government officials, who for the most part, are the wealthy elite. These wealthy elite control the police and the military. This is so they can continue to live elite lives while making the majority of the population work as wage slaves. If the wage slaves revolt or protest, there is jail or worse.
Now the theory continues that if the ownership of production was transferred to the proletariat, and government jobs lost all privilege and became working men jobs, then slowly the lower classes would become middle classes, and because the state owned all property and means of productions, those bourgeoisie leaders would also become lower class. Now is where the –real- theory comes into play. According to Marx and Lenin, because there are no more classes, then the state (which remember only exists as a barrier between classes) is no longer necessary. Over time the idea of government will “wither away” until there is no real government. People would all just be working for the common good and goods and services would be available for the all. If anything, what was the government body, would become a trade organization, shifting good from areas of excess to areas of need. Once the government completely vanishes, then you are in a state of Communism.

So as you can see, socialism and communism are like a worm and a butterfly. One comes out of another, but they are definitely not the same. And as I am sure you know, the state never withered in Russia or China or anywhere else. So none of them were –ever- communists. And in both Russia and China, when the dictatorship of the Proletariat took power, the leader was instantly corrupted and then just help onto the dictatorship. So, no one has really ever been socialist either. The closest thing we have come to in our planets history would be the small communes that have sprouted up and faded throughout the worlds history. So don’t be afraid when our government talks about the evils of communism, because they have no reference to base their fears. If anything, we should, as we always have, fear dictators and never trust the state or capitalism which perpetuates it.

                    • Sigma says:

Call them Communists, Socialists, Marxists, or Statists. They believe in the good of the collective, and to hell with the individual. Can you say “Borg”? Resistance is futile. They believe people are dumb and the state has to tell them what to do or do everything for them. The American Way, the incredible gift our Founding Fathers left us, is the antithesis of what Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Castro, Mao, Chavez, Guevara, Obama, and all the goons like them believe. So it matters not whether they are worms or butterflies. They are the unquestioned enemies of freedom loving people everywhere. They killed tens of millions of people who would not follow them.

That’s what I know, but thanks for the educating. ;-)

            • BeukendaalMason says:

Do you know who wrote the Constitution? Although a few were “land holding, slave owning” none of them were what could be defined as “elite”. Many were business owners who had no slaves, nor much land and the few that were slave owners hardly were “elite”.

The Founding Fathers wished to create a country and government that assured the the rights and freedoms of its citizens. Popular ideology excluded slaves, women, and native americans, though several members tried to include one or more of the groups (there was a movement to free all slaves at the creation of the new country but it did not have enough support).

I dunno, I thought the founders were for the promotion of the general welfare.

What they were against was the system of patronage. i.e. the awarding of titles, incomes, monopolies and other licenses to collect rents by the powerful.

I think what you’ve probably been doing is misreading some quotes from the founders on right wing blogs as being about the former when they were about the latter.

            Do you see?

Publicly funded education, and other public goods <- stuff they were for e.g."the general welfare"

Big business insisting on it's 'right' to profits and influence over the legislature <- what they were against e.g. patronage and rents.

Admittedly this didn’t include black people who still subjugated decades later.

              • TheOne says:

But they did say all men are equal- too bad it’s no longer true today with racial, sexual, sexual choice quotas and hiring preferences.

                    • And if people really didn’t judge based on race, sex, sexual orientation, etc, then we wouldn’t need stuff like that.

                    • VictoryNotVengeance says:

Instead judge them by their wealth! Because if you only judge them by color, it only limits so much of the population. But when you judge by wealth, the top 5% can look down on the lower 60%!

And despite being a “hell hole”, as you put it, England was still a very conservative country.

I thought this might’ve been a nesting error, but I honestly can’t figure out who brought up the founding fathers’ Puritanism for you to start complaining about it.

But you can’t blame some people for being angry at the Puritans; their messed-up viewpoints made a lot of lasting damage in the US. Mind you also, the founding fathers were not Puritans.

          • Asshats? Least common denominator? There you go sopranomom, some personal attacks. Listen up, pal, if you’re what passes as a patriot in this country, then I hope to never ever be like you. As for your precious constitution, it’s got lots of good stuff in it, but it’s far from perfect. And we can always amend it if we have to.

Don’t you DARE fvcking pretend to know what I do for my fellow man. I’ve helped with Habitat for Humanity, and soup kitchens, and donated what money I could to good causes like St. Jude’s Hospital and the March of Dimes. What you see on here is nothing more than a tiny glimpse into our lives. So don’t pretend to know what any of us do, or what any of us think beyond this site. I don’t want programs that help only the people that we feel like helping. I want programs that help everyone that needs help. If that makes me unamerican or a traitor, then by all means fvcking deport my ass to somewhere that doesn’t use charities as a copout to avoid people helping out.

And I’m not impressed by your dramatics, bub. As VNV has said before, I’d be THRILLED if our government was actually socialist. Obama isn’t a socialist. He’s nowhere close. You have no idea what real socialism is. But by all means, keep your alarmist views, and remain scared of anything besides the status quo.

Yeah my mom was raised my Catholics and is an atheist; my dad was (is?) a Presbyterian.. I think.. I’m not any of that.

LOL see how important religion was to us, I don’t even know what faith my dad grew up in or if he is still that.

Sara, no one wanted to see Bush’s birth certificate because they KNEW where he was born. And there wasn’t family members saying he was born in a foreign nation. I don’t agree with the birthers, but your logic is flawed. I do quite remember people demanding his military records, yet said nothing about Kerry’s records. (Though the other side did)
Please tell us all the conspiracy rumors you believed about GWB. There were more than there are about BO. Nutjobs on both sides of the isle. C’mon, you KNOW Bush manipulated the oil prices to defeat Kerry…..

Keep it up, you’re evening up the stupid scale.

    • n00bs says:

The next time I go to a protest, I am going to deliberately miss spell my sign, then go over it and cross out the miss spellings in red and correct them all! Won’t you all be impressed?

    • It also says Rando is a typo. I don’t wanna be a typo! :(

  15. PortlandMark says:

(Observation based on absolutely no objective evidence whatsoever)

Isn’t it funny that these chronic misspellers are probably the same people who vote against financing local school bonds?

  16. Classicist says:

Another thing about this picture: that old man to the chick’s right (our left) looks exactly like a professor I had. Except he never dresses like that. He wears trilbies and bow ties.

  17. Lantus Nova says:

That’s all democrats do, they point out spelling errors and don’t address the issue.

  18. Mina says:

Interestingly enough, when I got to work I noticed that someone HAD in fact stolen my dictionary. I hadn’t heard of our president being in my area. Perhaps he sent a secret service agent to do it for him?

  19. Chuck says:

i think they meant theif cause thats what eh is

  20. anonymous says:

Who stole your dictionary? Thief can be spelled both ways.

  21. cgray says:

Easiest trick in the book. Find the one in a hundred protestors who misspell something, take their picture, and then act like all Republicans are stupid. Tell you what, next time, go to a Harlem protest and see how fabulous their spelling is. Most of them sign their names with an “X.”

  22. 1984 says:

“Amazing” how so many people suddenly noticed debt but not during Reagan and Dubya.
Then it was all “deficits don’t matter”.

  26. samuraidave says:

This photo just kind of sums up the perceived image of many tea baggers. Anyone who has seen their videos should not be surprised by this poor girl’s unintentionally hilarious misspelled sign. Not the smartest bunch of cookies – and dsylexia my ass! No
other words had their letters reversed.

What I also find funny are some of the comments here or the Lols of his photo that support her view but miss the misspelling!

As to the “theif/thief” part, with Bush it made sense with the dubious 2000 election.

  27. rj mames says:

this has layers of stupid. they didn’t even know the title they were attempting to spoof. the whole thing deserves an F. If you feel smart enough to attack the pres. you should take the time to research a little and try to use spell check. Duh.

  28. rob says:

wow what a noob. they spelled it right

  29. lance says:

dictionaries have nothing to do with spelling errors. how can you look something up that’s organized in alphabetical order if you can’t spell it?

  30. mynabyrd says:

The same person that put that pucker on her puss…

  31. wallFly says:

he’s just unhappy ‘cuz that whole don’t ask don’t tell has kept him repressed for so many years. he just needs to be honest with himself and he’ll be a happier person.

  32. Well, Rando, he hid that watch up his ass for five years! That’ll make you cranky.

  33. HelOnWheels says:

    Oooh, Pulp Fiction FTW!

  34. Was that before or after he asked for more cowbell?

  35. You have to admit, his posts are far more entertaining when you read them in Christopher Walken’s voice.

  36. Did I screw something up on my computer or are all the posts in italics all of a sudden???
