Good know you weren’t trying to be a complete jerk. As far as I’ve noticed, most people on here don’t claim to be an expert, so I don’t know why you would assume that they do.

But we do agree on at least one very important thing- Putin is easy on the eyes.

I wasn’t talking about the joke itself but about some comments made above. The LOL is actually quite funny if you ask me.
And the fact that different things are taught in different schools around the globe is perfect support for what I was saying: if you’re not getting first-had info, BIG chances are it’s biased, especially if you live in the other country that was part in the cold war. I am aware that, fortunately, many Americans can see way beyond their own nose. However, simplifying historical events to fit them into a logical trend is typical of most people in this world, and they should remember that this only provides them with topical knowledge; before arguing like an expert, they should become one. That’s all I’m saying.
And, once again, the lol itself is good. Putin’s hot.

I’m not sure if it’s by accident or not, but you’re agreeing with me. I, too, think the problem is mainly that the banks were deregulated (which was not Bush’s fault, but as near as I can tell, it was the fault of the Republican controlled Congress).

I don’t really blame Bush for 9/11. People who want to blame Clinton for 9/11 are the ones I have a beef with. I do blame Bush for conflating Iraq with Afghanistan. I also strongly suspect Dick Cheney’s involvement in Halliburton’s war profiteering.

Second, I also doubt that you personally know everyone here, so you don’t know where THEY are from nor what they know about Putin or Russia. Third, not every American is the stereotypical “Ugly American”. Fourth, have you taken Politics 101 at every secondary education institute in the world? No? I Just think it’s amazing how people who have no knowledge whatsoever of Russia, its people and its politics make those comments about Putin’s policies. Or about anything from that country, for that matter.
Unfortunately you can’t gauge things everywhere using North-American mindset, and Politics 101 won’t teach you everything there is to know.

I’m not saying that nothing is Bush’s fault. I’m replying to the fact that you want to blame everything on him. I did notice you didn’t dispute anything I stated except the “Everyone deserves a house” quote, which may not have been the exact words, but it was the essence of his stance. And, you can blame the banks all you want, but if they weren’t deregulated in the first place, this wouldn’t have happened.

In summary, everything that went wrong during the Bush administration was Clinton’s fault, but everything that goes wrong during the Obama administration is Obama’s (or Clinton’s) fault.

Or, shorter, Bush can do no wrong.

(Bonus points for the “everyone deserves a house” nonsense. It’s only true in that it showed banks they can make money by giving mortgages to poor people. The deregulated banks then ran with the idea and went far beyond what the law required, or even recommended.)
