You should learn to read better. The blue screen “REQUIRED a hard drive wipe.” It was CAUSED by a virus. Which we got because windows internet security sucks. So you apparently are dumb as well as insensitive.

Never had a hardware failure that prevented data recovery.

Now, I will acknowledge that I should have expected to get yet another virus and done more frequent backups. However, I am not much of a surfer. My browser history probably has fewer than a dozen new entries per month.

And if I had a Mac…no viruses.

Just for the record.. these characters are part of the “Ultra Family” that started back in 1969. I dont know right off.. but the one on the left looks like Ultra Seven.. and the on the right looks like Ultraman Gaia.. Im sure there is a way you can look them up.. just do a search for Ultraman or Ultra Family Japan and there should be a list with pix. Ultraman is the longest running show on television and in Japan, Ultraman is like our DC Comics Superman. I would love to see some of the new shows.. but since they dont export them to the USA anymore.. its hard to get them.. although i think Netflix has the orginal series on DVD now.. Ultraman from the 1960′s..

Sorry, but only times I’ve been blue screened is due to viruses, not hardware. (We have a PC geek who fixes it.) The hardware problems always took long enough so we could back up and then fix them.

That’s why I’m thinking Mac — none of my Mac geek friends ever get viruses, while even our PC geek gets them.

That’s just it Eddie. That is the single reason everyone thinks Windows sucks. It is because they interpret BSOD as automatically a Windows error, when more often than not it is strictly a hardware failure. Nothing to do with the OS. They just are not savvy enough to determine why their machine blue screened. Just easier to blame MS for making a crap product because it seems all MS detractors do “so it has to be true!”

If you lost your hard drive and blame that on windows, then I’m sorry, you fail. That is a hard drive failure, windows tells you about it using /gasp a blue screen. Has nothing to do with a failure of windows in any way.

I don’t know about calicos from personal experience, but I do know that it’s a recessive x-linked trait, so you can’t breed for calicos in a ‘normal’ (ie calico-calico to get more calicos). I suspect there’s a lot of inbreeding to get the trait. And we know from royalty what inbreeding does to people.

most businesses use PCs – but i think the biggest reason is price. the only areas i’ve seen macs as a dominant computer brand is in a design department – usually graphic, web or film related. most games and game developers utilize a PC platform as that’s where the target audience is.
so.. from my experience, mac’s have a niche and they fill it well, it’s just not a niche that’s needed by the majority of the business world. i mean, really, why pay $1300-$2000 apple laptop to run MS word or power point when you can buy a $300-$700 hp? the only real reason is if you want to throw adobe’s CS on your machine and do video editing on the fly..

i work on a PC for one job, a mac on another – i like them both but i think the Mac has done a better job as far as physical appearance of their machines and software as well as ease of use and consistent reliability. i do miss being able to randomly upgrade my computer when i feel like it though..

we have 2 dogs and a kitty. when our first dog was ill i said we needed to bring a puppy (who is now big dog #2) in so that big dog #1 could train her for us. about 3 years later big dog #1 was REALLY not doing well so i said we needed a critter for big dog #2 to play with. i brought home a teeny tiny 5lb black kitty. after big dog #1 died, big dog #2 got seriously depressed and wouldn’t even play with the kitty so i conned everyone into letting me bring home puppy #2.

i still get dirty looks whenever any of the animals act up. it’s my fault we have all of them…

Against my better nature I was going to try the PC version of Halo 2, even though I heard bad things about it. Because of the version of Direct X it uses (which isn’t compatible with Windows XP, which they did on purpose), it is a Vista/Windows 7 only release. It’s their little way of trying to force XP users into Vista. There are a few other games like that, I can’t think of any off the top of my head. As it is, I still ended up wasting $20 on a game that won’t play on the laptop anyway.
