Eh, I like Hillary too, but I can make a joke about her. I don’t REALLY think her death stare kills at 10 paces (Bill would’ve been dead long ago if that were true). Frankly, I’m more offended by the fact that JAC’s Hillary jokes wasn’t all that funny. A lot of my point was that Cheney made a location error, and it’s a lot easier to get disoriented than to choose to drink and drive.

Among other things, JAC, I think you’re applying current standards (as far as drinking and driving and wrecking your car, resulting in a death) to an incident that happened at a time when standards and expectations were far different. It’s entirely possible that by TODAY’S standards, he’d be screwed, but that’s irrelevant.

You think he got off scott-free? He did not, I assure you. And everything in his life has been tainted by that incident. He screwed up, and he knew it, and was haunted by it. (Read his memoirs). It totally ruined any chance he had to win a presidency. Also, I disagree with your statement that “the rest of us would do serious jail time” for the same occurrence. People “get off” with a wrist slap for things like that all the time.

It seems like EVERY subject hits a nerve with justa. He has an opinion on everything, and you can usually see his posts a minimum of 10 times in every thread. It wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t being snarky and/or disingenuous about it. There’s no such thing as a civil disagreement with him, he always takes the low road and says the nastiest thing about that person/subject he can think of. It’s like he’s deliberately trying to “start something”.

When I was in high school, I lost my 17yo 8 month pregnant friend to a drunk driver. So obviously, I don’t condone that. For the record, Ted Kennedy denies being drunk during that incident. I’m not saying he wasn’t lying, I’m not saying he WAS lying. I’m just saying that was a LONG time ago, and he had apologized several times, and had since dedicated his life to trying to do good. As a christian, shouldn’t you forgive someone who is remorseful? Isn’t that what jesus would do?

Dick, on the other hand, is as nasty and mean and divisive as they come. What is HE doing to try to make things better? Nothing. As such, he is a tasty target for LOLs.

Ted Kennedy asked for forgiveness, cleaned up his life and devoted the rest of it to trying to help people through legislation. He was, indeed, a great man, and his passing saddened the whole country. Now tell me, isn’t it a christian tenet that one should forgive? When someone repents of their sins, aren’t they forgiven?
