So someone who doesn’t follow limbaugh like he is the most awesome person on earth (which he’s not, by the way), and to you limbaugh is the standard of conservatism; isn’t a good person?

Well isn’t that what the public OPTION will do? It will be competition for all of the private health insurance companies.

Competition that’s supposed to have some laws to help ensure those who are covered by it don’t get screwed over royally. Like you know, not getting covered by pre-existing conditions, having things changed on your policy without notice, or even getting dropped without notice.

But still it’s currently in development as an OPTION, as many people seem to forget. And I can support a public option. Perhaps I could finally get health care without having to worry if I can afford something out of pocket. Thanks to asthma both my kid and I are considered un-insurable. Have you any idea what it’s like to see your child get sick, and have to hope that they don’t get so sick they need to go to the doctors? Or that I won’t catch it myself so that if I have to pay for anyone I just have to pay for his bills, and not his AND mine? Sure this makes me a bit biased on the whole public option. I can admit that, but as things stand now I can say something DOES need to be done about it so that everyone can get health care.

Capitalism is a pre-requisite. His hypothesis/theory is that Socialism and Communism will evolve from Capitalism when the working class (defined as those who sell their labor) overthrow and rule the upper class (defined as those who own the means of production). Russia went straight from feudalism under the Romanov dynasty to “socialism” under Lenin. There are many good arguments contemporary to Lenin on why this wasn’t possible, but the strongest argument is that capitalism and democracy had not first been established. Furthermore, Marx’s 10 planks have never been fully implemented. And when partially implemented not without corruption or supply hoarding, which would NEVER exist under Communism. Thus, the USSR AND China were, are and have always been Socialist.

I never denied it. I would never deny it. All I said was that was that was not our experience, which would NEVER indicate my age or a denial of facts. I went back to get the example one of the last to die fleeing from East Berlin, where there were at least someone there to report it, whereas many who died in Russia had no one to tell their story:

And you know this from PERSONALLY talking to former Soviets? I doubt it. Every single Russian/Soviet that I know, myself included, has mixed feelings about the USSR. The same way that the citizens of most countries have mixed feelings about their homeland.

And, BTW, the USSR was not “communist”; it was Soviet Socialist, especially after Stalin took over.
