  1. AC says:

    “…We can’t think of anything good… So let’s talk about cats…”

    • AC says:

I think I’ll say “first!” in order to get something interesting from this…

    • Soraku101 says:

I may not have gone (yet) but a buddy of mine in the Army came back from Iraq a few months ago. He told me that the one thing that kept him sane was this stray cat that came onto camp every evening to eat the scraps of dinner (however thin they were), and every evening he would pet him for a few minutes. It truely is the little things that matter the most. HOOYAH!

      • mabsba says:

Now every time I see a lolcat, I will think of you and all our other troops. Hopefully you all can get lolcats over there, and I hope many kitties come visiting. Take care. :)

  2. eyal says:

it’s an I.D.F soldier from israel while he served in Gaza

  3. Ooops says:

    Uhh… That’s not a US soldier…

    • doom-bop says:

Regardless, if you’re in a place where you have to carry a weapon that big because governments – any government, I’m not advocating for any side – can’t do things peacefully, I think the comfort you get from cuddling a kitten is well-deserved. It’s the little things that matter.

      • Immora says:

        Doom-bop…

If you knew anything about what the Israelis are fighting for you would realize how grossly ignorant your comment was.

        • EWAdams says:

I know exactly what the Israelis are fighting for and no, they can’t do things peacefully.

        • doom-bop says:

I know what the Israelis are fighting for and I know what the Palestinians are fighting for. I understand the situation there now, I know the history of the region and the history of this ongoing conflict. I understand the conditions under which Israel gained statehood and the conditions under which they have had to defend it. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is far to complicated to discuss here.
What I’m saying goes beyond politics. I look at this photo as a symbol of something more than the context in which it was taken. Because of the unwillingness of the power-brokers – not just in this region, but globally – to put ideological differences aside and promote mutual understanding and compromise for the good of humanity rather than promote hatred and violence, the world would be a better place.
I know how hokey that sounds, but with all the violence that has been perpetrated in the past century against civilians by both conventional militaries and by civilians, and how, especially in recent years it has become such that in many places the differences between ‘combatant’ and ‘civilian’ blurred almost beyond recognition, I intended only to point out that, in the middle of all of this violence, there are people put directly in the line of fire. If those people, such as the young man pictured here who are carrying weapons because “we can’t just get along”, can find comfort in something as small as reaching down to pet a cat, well, it puts a human face back on terms like “unrest” and “violence” that, when used to describe these violent situations tend to become abstracted into something general, without human agency and without a human toll.
Point is, don’t assume that idealism is synonymous with ignorance. The image just touched me, tugged at my heart, put a human face back on a conflict which, for me, had become abstracted into facts, figures and newsbytes, and I had a moment of youthful idealism that got the better of me.

          • doom-bop says:

**I didn’t proofread this well enough – The second sentence in the second paragraph should read:
“The world would be a better place were it not for the unwillingness of the power-brokers – not just in this region, but globally – to put ideological differences aside and promote mutual understanding and compromise for the good of humanity rather than promote hatred and violence.”
            -doom-bop

      • D-Voice says:

        You make a great point.

    • Haddock says:

      Nope, it’s an israeli.

  4. DC says:

I’m 87.576845% sure that’s not an American soldier but anyway, he’s just frisking the kitty to see if it has bombs under his fur. Filthy Muslims don’t like dogs and their cat bombs don’t do much damage but better safe than sorry.

  5. CMS says:

That is NOT an American serviceman. That is, however, an absolutely adorable kitty.

  6. BLF says:

He’s an Israeli, IDF soldier. Solid green fatigues, brown boots, metal helmet, M16A2 with raised cheekpiece and bipod with ACOG scope, he’s probably Golani Brigade. Old photo, nothing new.

US troops haven’t worn solid green uniforms since the 1970s (Army) and 1980s (Air Force), the IDF still wear solid OD green for all services most of the time.

  7. bitter troll over 9000 says:

its blow a troop day on in PK!!!
you wear green your either a troop or leauperchan.
if your a leauperchan lie and get sucked off!

    • keithybabes says:

I was going to say it’s blow a cat day, but it’s ALWAYS blow a cat day on the cheezburger network.

      • pittypat says:

I don’t think so. Don’t you know those things are barbed?!

        • Default User says:

After having abdominal surgery early this spring I felt a new sympathy for my cat and apologized to her for getting her fixed. Then I read about cat mating habits and I told my cat she should damned grateful I got her fixed.

          • pittypat says:

Well if she goes for oral sex anyway, you could ask, “whatsamatter, puss, cat got your tongue?”

            • viking gal says:

Feline oral sex–sandpaper meets velcro hooks. Oy!!

            • Default User says:

It would save on having to get her tongue pierced! $75 for a cat tongue piercing is ridiculous!

              • viking gal says:

 My first fixed male cat used to stand over my roommate’s reclining fixed female, with a VERY intent expression on his face. The female would look up at him as if to say, ‘WHAT do you think you are doing up there? Posing for animal crackers?’

              • Default User says:

I can understand that, I used to have a lesbian bunny in to beastiality. She tried to rape my kitty. She also intentionally annoyed my cat until my cat hit her, after a few swipes my cat would eventually freak out and find somewhere tall where the rabbit couldn’t get to her.

                • justacanuck says:

We had a fixed female cat that would…um……become very amorous with my mom’s lifesize cat statues….it was really odd.

                  • Sara says:

I have always felt that my big boy was not “fixed” enough. He goes after the little girl at least once a day and he has that “intense” look as well. Wow I thought my kitties were odd looks like they are quite normal

  8. Jane St.Clair Glamorous First Lady of PK says:

OMFG, are you kidding me?! Praise the troops AND a cat lol?

  9. This one at least attempted to be funny. It failed, but it at least tried.

  10. angie says:

hi rando, cute kitty other than that meh

  11. Yeah…it’s pretty much been established that this photo is of an Israeli soldier. Try not saying the exact same thing as everyone else before you, m’kay?

    • viking gal says:

      No, it is German.

      • Bitter wino, the wine steward says:

Clearly if you turn the flag, soldier and kitten on their sides, you could see that the stripes are not in the right direction to be German. They must be Belgian.

        • Default User says:

What if you turn the cat on it’s head, the soldier on it’s side and the flag on it’s back?

          • keithybabes says:

Impossible to turn a cat on its back. Physicists have tried and failed. There was also the experiment to create a perpetual motion machine by strapping a piece of toast to a cat’s back with the butter side up, to see whether the butter-side-down rule was stronger than the self-righting kitty rule, but the cat licked the butter off every time..

  12. ay dios mio says:

    You fail. You fail hard.

  13. israelitroop says:

I am 100% sure that he is israeli, and what flag?

  14. Lilly says:

Regardless of his nationality, he looks like a KID. My heart goes out to all the kids around the world who have guns thrust into their hands by bully governments and told to shoot people.
Why shouldn’t he get a bit of comfort from petting a kitty – it’s a lot more natural and satisfying than blowing people up, don’t you think?
The world would be a lot better place if we took more care of our own – cats, kids, families – and less of shooting and bombing.

  15. James says:

hes isreali not a yank his uniforms green like the current commandos in palistine

  16. YoyoMomo says:

Soldier Captions are not Pundit Kitchen Material. You are wasting ripe political material on ‘look at this bad ass soldier’ captions. This is not funny. This perhaps is the only tab that is never funny, or warm and fuzzy, or even reflective.

  17. No1askedme says:

I’m bored, so it’s time for a NEW TOPIC! Today’s controversial issue is Animal testing: yes or no?

    • viking gal says:

Multiple choice testing? I think most animals would have trouble writing an essay.

      • Default User says:

My cat as subtly informed me she does not feel the need to prove her intellect with these nonsense tests.

        • viking gal says:

I have one Mensa-level cat: she keeps working animal behavior tactics to try and change MY behavior. The second cat is special ops: diplomacy combined with mouse-killing. The third (and final) cat is…both primal and not too smart.

          • GreenBearCanuck says:

I had a physics teacher in highschool who would have her dog take the multiple choice portion diploma exam every year after the students had taken it. She would demonstrate this in front of students to confirm the results. She set out food dishes ‘a’ through whatever, ask the dog the questions, and read the answers. Invariably the dog did better than both the school and provincial averages.

Those of us who understood what was happening never could figure out the ‘tells’ she was using, or if anyone did they never told. Never the less we never forgot the point of the demonstration; You may think you are smart, you might even be better than average, but there is more that you will never understand than you ever will. Life will throw you curve balls and remind you just how big a fool you are.

    • Schroedinger's cat says:

Yes or no or either or both?

  18. jessica says:

    not a us soldier.

    • bitter troll over 9000 says:

you know, its been a while since bitter troll saw a EWAdams crapfest up on the page, think he got the messege and left PK crying? perhaps like a skinny emo kid who’s parents dont understand him and live is a dark hole of dispair and darkness, while sipping his juice box?

    • firefly says:

      Must be a them soldier

  19. YD says:

He’s not a U.S. soldier. Although, kittehs are well loved by all.

Bonus points if you know what YD stands for.

  20. versimilitude says:

Pretty sure that’s an Israeli soldier.

  21. Jack says:

that is an Israeli soldier, trust me im from Israel.

  22. BKM says:

LOL…That isn’t even an American soldier.

  23. Waka says:

There’s a way you can tell that this isnt an American soldier.
An americal soldier would have made a movie while it throws the cat over the edge of a ravine.

    • ay dios mio says:

      You fail. You fail hard.
What’s funny is the only video I’ve seen of people doing that stuff online is Europeans doing it.

      • Waka says:

You fail. And you fail hard.
You even admit you base your comment on that one video you have seen, so europe MUST be worse. That whole one video!
I seen tons of videos of americans killing animals just for the sake of it. Youtube is full with them.
Japan will always be number 1 in animal cruelty though.
Just you make a good 2nd.
And the fact you find animal cruelty funny.. that’s just sick man. Stop talking before you hurt yourself.

  24. Ace5762 says:

Kittens should be everyone’s top priority.

  25. barnesy says:

    fail
    thats an israelian soldier
    not an american

  26. MauserGirl says:

I wish the people who caption this picture could get it in their heads that this is an Israeli soldier, not an American. There *are* other armies in the world, y’know…

  27. Breesus says:

Wow, did you guys know that this guy isn’t an American soldier?? Ferreals, no foolin’! Good thing the last ten posters clued us in since I obviously didn’t get it from the first ten… ::smacks self in forehead::

  28. dsmit says:

    Doing your homework fail!

  29. Israeli says:

This picture was up in Israeli news, yeah it’s an Israeli soldier in “oferet yetzuka” earlier this year.

Guys it’s an Zahal Soldier, from Israel army.
100% on that cause im from isr..

  34. Thompson says:

Great, except he’s not American. I’m guessing that whoever made this has never seen an American military uniform?

  35. PJH says:

Thats not even an American Soldier. Check the uniform before you knock the United States Military, genius.

  36. Stout Viking says:

People people people… It’s AN ISRAELI SOLDIER, not a US soldier!

  37. Alondra says:

WHile that may be a kitten, that other one is not a US soldier. Looks like an eastern European Army solider–check that funny scarf on his helmet, wrong uniform and some throwback boots.

  38. Voidz says:

    Thats an Israeli soldier….
(I should know, as I am one too).

  39. bitter and untalented says:

If only he were a US soldier. Wait no, if he was a US soldier he’d be throwing the kitten off a cliff.

  40. Skuba1361 says:

    This is an IDF soldier…

  41. Former US Soldier says:

I love the kittehs, and yes, that is not a US Soldier. He does however look like he is dressed for “Disco Night” in Tel Aviv!

  42. MissKitteh says:

I luvs a man wot luvs a kitteh.
    I will marrying heem.

  43. Jetti says:

  48. adam says:

This is definitely an IDF soldier in the olive drabs.
Uniform, helmet and crazy gun setup are giveaways.

  49. Gnarph says:

    That is one cute kitteh.

Regardless of what country’s uniform the kid is wearing, I’m sure his family is proud, and a bit worried about him. Lets all take a leaf from his book and stop fighting for a moment and go “Awwwww what a cute kitteh,” just like he did…

  50. Robert says:

This picture strikes a soft spot to me. It is showing a soldier who is put through so much having a moment of innocence petting something as pure as a kitten. I love this picture.

  51. Honkmonkey says:

    dude’s IDF, not US

  52. Bobby says:

This is an israeli soldier. Good try anyway

  53. Matt says:

That is actually an ISRAELI soldier.

  54. Julius says:

    Don’t you mean “Israeli soldiers”?

  55. Thats a US soldier in a brilliant disguise…

  56. billy says:

That’s not a U.S soldier. That’s obviously an Israeli soldier due to the all green uniform.

  57. uspavana_sarma says:

Actually, he is an IDF soldier, not U.S.
    Sorry..
    Long live Israel!

  58. Jason nepp says:
