Actually the picture was not taken in the castle, but rather in the reception office in the Nobel Peace Price commite’s own building.. Right down the street from the castle.. well infact. Everything is right down the street from the castle in oslo. And yes, the wallpaper is terrefying. X(

It’s not him, it’s Thorvald Stoltenberg (I think). Anyways, I’m Norwegian and I live in Oslo. I’ve been outside the Norwegian palace plenty of times.

Didn’t know it looked like that on the inside, don’t know who the guy cuddling the blue ball in the picture is either. Makes no sense at all.

I get that americans are often devoid of historical, political, and geographic knowledge of the rest of the world, and sadly sometimes their own country, but I think expecting us to be able to identify the reception rooms of foreign palaces is perhaps pushing it a bit? Aside from Norway, does anyone in Europe know what the Royal Palace in Oslo’s reception room looks like? How many people in Europe even know what the Royal Palace in Oslo looks like? I imagine very few.

That at that’s a rather unflattering look at Harald V. Even if I had known what Harald V looked like (I’d seen pictures, but I don’t commit them all to memory, sorry), I wouldn’t have been able to say that was him from the shot.

I read an article just the other day where the writer talked about various forms of muslims, including atheist muslims. I suppose that it makes sense if you regard the main religion of the culture you come from. It’s probably fair to say I am more of a Christian stheist than a Shintoist one, simply because I haven’t been raised in Japan, but in a country where Christian symbols, sayings and the like are all over the place.
