It’s probably like being from Washington State. You can’t say Washington; it has to be Washington STATE. Then when they say, oh, the capitol? You say, no, THE STATE. Them: Oh. And that’s the Americans.

My favorite is when I get to argue about the capitol of Louisiana. I had a TEACHER who is from here argue with me about it. (FYI, for anyone who wants to know, it Baton Rouge, NOT New Orleans).

The St. Louis area includes a chunk of Illinois right across the Mississippi River, so we end up with two different O’Fallons in our metro area as well as two different Troys. Well, Troy is a bit of a stretch, but it’s kind of in the area.
To be perfectly fair, if you just say “Washington” it’s not terribly clear whether you mean the city or the state (although a lot of people just refer to the city as “D.C.”, which helps).

The joke is that Jon Stewart (Pictured) Is often considered a more reliable source for news than mainstream news such as CNN or Fox. (This drives the people of said mainstream news up the wall)
Despite this, he insists that TDS is purely a comedy show.

Of course. He’s a comedian. He’s allowed to be slightly biased. However, he does a fantastic job of making fun of both parties, which I appreciate.

Just a note for those who missed it (not you Crow, more the ones who agreed wholeheartedly, and without irony when I said ‘little wee bit on the left. Just a smidge…’) when someone uses words like ‘wee’ ‘bit’ and ‘smidge’, unless they’re Scottish they are probably being sarcastic about it being a very small amount. He is quite obviously left in his views and doesn’t make any attempt to hide this. He will still attack the left if they do something stupid and supportive of the right if they do something intelligent.

Yeah, actually the faux attempts at denying his bias have become a running gag on his show whenever his audience applauds heartily for a left-leaning comment.

Stewart makes fun of both parties like Richard Simmons plays both sides of the fence. i.e. He DOESN’T. The man’s a total biased loser who could do something as trivial as throwing a 2 X 4 on the ground to get his stoner fans to laugh up a storm.
Actually you don’t need to be stoned for Jon Stewart to be funny. You just need to have a sense of humor.

Have you ever actually watched the show? If you have and still failed to notice his digs at various members of the left, than you are apparently in need of a neuropathologist.
They just have a butthurt blinder on. They see all the digs at their favored political party, and nothing with him digging at the left.
First of all, JS is quite possibly the funniest man alive (with the exception of Dave Chappelle). His short-lived late night show was side-splittingly funny and he was robbed when Leno was named as Carson’s successor. That said, he is quite clearly left-leaning to a fault. Yes he does dig at liberals occasionally, but only for not being Liberal enough or for general stupidity not-related to ideology. I have NEVER seen Stewart criticize the left on principle–which is the only thing he rags on conservatives for. You can be biased and still be funny, just realize that that is exactly what Stewart is.
Only makes fun of conservatives for their ideology? Which show are YOU watching?

The problem with 24 hour news is there is almost nothing (In my opinion) that deserves 24 hours, hell even more than a few minutes.
A plane went down in {location} X amount of survivors, injured, dead, possible reasons. If you don’t have info just say so and move on, we don’t need to interview everyone for 4 hours about it until something new finally pops up.
