(Plane crash)

The pilots have been on their laptops again!!
Am I the only one who notices gas prices before a giant plane?
no you aren’t the only one that noticed… *sigh*
That’s either a really really old picture, or there’s a damn good reason that plane landed for those prices.
There’s a variation on this picture that points out the gas prices.
Really this is the one that won?!?! Really? I liked the one with teh firefighter saying “Wow look at the gas prices!”
But at least this one is somewhat clever AND isn’t EWAdams!!! (_/_) (_l_) (_\_)
Gasp! I don’t know what you do on your peanut butter farms, but here in the PK forum (or as I affectionally call it, punkitty) we call him “he who must not be named.”
I can call him whatever I want this is america stop opressing my 2nd Amendment… elebenty, belgian, Walk for Life rally…!!! BLAH!!!
What does your 2nd amendment have to do w/ saying what you want?
The ability to shoot people who disagree with you. Duh. Line 17, it’s right there, clear as day. Why else would the founders have put that into the constitution? So the people have a way to defend themselves/rebel against an unfair/overly militaristic government? Bah, where’d you get a daft idea like that?
“punkitty”? *snerk*
The gas prices were the first thing I noticed.
his username is to die for
Is it sad the first thing I thought was “Where the hell is gas $1.59?”
I thought the same thing!
Could it be from Europe or something??? If it’s the US it’s extremely cheap for being /gallon and if it’s Canada it’s extremely expensive for being /liter.
I’m pretty sure this happened YEARS ago.
Yep. Southwest Flight 1455, in 2000.
I live about a mile and a half from BUR, and I heard this happen. It was a rainy Sunday evening, and we’d had a massive thunderstorm the previous Friday, so I thought it was more thunder. Then I turned on the TV. I imagine if it had hit the gas station, I would have seen the explosion clearly…
So did I, the plane did not even register for a few seconds, all I saw was $1.59!!
Glad that’s never happened at the Chevron I work at.
There’s a dead kid underneath that plane in that picture.
There is NOT, there were no fatalities in this accident. The pilots were fired and the gas station torn down.
I guess being torn down is the equivalent of firing the gas station; so, it was determined to be partly at fault?
That gas station was asking to be crashed into! Wearing skimpy numbers and practically throwing itself at that plane all night!
I lived a few miles away in 2000 and also remembered reports of a dead kid, but even discounting wikipedia, ntsb.gov and latimes.com also don’t mention any fatalities, so that must have been mere rumor.
You’re hilarious. Ass munch.
I dunno, if I was flying, and saw those gas prices, I’d bring er’ down for a fillup too.
Heh. Better than the posted caption.
OMG that gas is sooo cheap!
FIRST! …to notice that the gas prices are really low on that picture.
No seriously, that’s like WTF. I mean, can you imagine what it was like being at the gas station at the time? If I saw a motherf*cking plane coming at me while I’m working at a place with lots of gasoline nearby, I wouldn’t need new pants, I’d need a new rectum.
Is anyone *else* more distracted by the gas prices than by the plane crash?
Good question, but what I‘d want to know is if anyone else is more distracted by the gas prices than by the plane crash.
Hey, did you notice how low the price of gas is in this picture?
Wow, look at that! That’s amazing! The only thing more amazing is how low the gas price is in this picture, dontcha think?
That’s really cheap gas!
You two are crazy. The only thing I noticed was how low the price of gas was in the picture.
Holy crap! Where can I get gas that cheap?
ZOMG! There’s a plane in the…hey, $1.59 a gallon! Can you read the address?
That was gas 10 years ago. Old photo from 2000. The gas station has been relocated to somewhere that is NOT directly across from an inbound runway.
*sigh* Uh, yeah, that’s what the running joke in this subthread is about.
oohh much cheaper than the UK prices, must land here, where can we get a takeaway,
Someone FINALLY put the “only” in the correct spot!
Apparently as the pilot realized he was coming in too fast for the short runway, his words on the data flight recorder were “Well there goes my job”
Gas for $1.59?!?!?!
I was a volunteer on-scene at this incident with the Red Cross (we brought out a canteen truck with coffee & snacks for the fire, police, and other emergency workers who were on-scene all night).
The plane overshot the runway, broke through a low block wall and chain link fence (breaking the nose gear in the process), and skidded across Hollywood Way to a stop just in front of the gas station. Fortunately, there was no fire, and no serious injuries or deaths. The foam all over the ground in the photo was spayed there as a precaution by the fire department.
There was a very funny photo taken here that night by one of the cops on scene (I watched him take it), but I’ve never seen it posted anywhere. If you look at this picture, you can see that there’s a sign on the light post. What you can’t see is that it’s actually a “No Parking Any Time” sign. One of the cops on-scene took his ticket book, and acted like he was writing the plane a parking ticket, and another cop took the photo, with the ticket-write, sign, and the coskpit in the frame. I’d love to get a copy of that photo!
I can has name of city with $1.59/gal. Regular, plz?
This was not Chicago, Midway airport. That accident did kill a kid and was a Blue SW jet, flight 1248
Gas prices before Bush, they seem like just a dream now…….
