Rights are rights, so they are similar, sorry wicket. As I jsut said to Max, liberals refuse to see the conservative view, and instead take it personally that conservatives just love to see people suffer due to greed. It's BS.

The military service comes simply from, if you serve 20 years in the Militray Service (reserves and national guard included) you get Government Health Insurance. It's a perk given to you from the government for working for the government. That is the biggest point that slips off of you, Max, Mabs, Rando and those that "judge" me for having Government Insurance, MY WIFE EARNS IT, by working for the government. Would you expect a comapny to give Helath Insurance to non-employees (there Apple and apples, but I'm sure someone will say the government's job is to provide non-eployees benefits, b/c the government isn't a corporation and should be treated differently.... it's horse $hit.) Y'all don't want to see the forrest through the trees, refuse to argue the point, and instead ignore them. THAT is why America HAS about 0 confidence in the Democratic party right now. It's the DO as we say, don't argue, we're in power you're arguement is invalid.

Wrong. I talk about many things that are equal to it. The problem is that y'all don't see why conservatives don't want NHC at this time. You simply think of it as "Conservatives are greedy and don't want to pay." You miss the entire point, hence to you it's apples and oranges. Until you can open your mind, and truely understand (not agree) with the point conservatives are making you will be blind to any comparison. If you ask Dhotic or Jac, I'm pretty sure they could see the comparisons as legit.

Ok here's the rub.. You're pointing out difference of thinking on different topics. You cant compare apples to oranges and maybe one day you'll think out a response enough to realize you're doing that.
Military service... Don't be fooled. It's a job, it's a means of employment. Unless there's a draft, it's nothing more than a job that serves our country in one of the most selfless ways possible. The rest of us, pay taxes. That's why it's apples and oranges. Maybe when you actually make a fair comparison, you'll stop hearing apples and oranges, until then, you continue to reach for some kind of hypocrisy on another unrelated issue. We're talking about paying taxes to pay for health care, so you want everyone to do military service for you? Which one is more facist, you tell me.
That's a horrible parallel, and the only reason you don't like that we can see through it is because you have nothing else.

All I have to say is that the 13 colonies got started because they were fleeing from persecution from the Church of England who at the time was using religious power to enforce it's morals upon everyone and drive out those who were different.
The 13 colonies rebelled from the monarchy because they were being taxed without any say so in the due process of law. Well we're independent of that. You pay taxes, you get to vote. It's that simple.
You have yet to present a single reason for not wanting the public health care option that seems beneficial to anyone but yourself. If you don't see how even a 10% increase in taxes in a net win across the board for health coverage, then I don't know what else to say.
You don't complain about us paying taxes to pay your wife's salary, and we don't complain about it. But once those taxes go towards helping someone other than you. You're against it.
And the "when will it stop" argument is BS. Your beloved constitution clearly states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Therefore once the populace belives the government has gone too far, you can do something about it. Or you can do something that doesn't require violence, which is to be voted out. Everyone has the power to vote in who they want, if enough people think the government officials are doing bad jobs they will get voted out. Plain and simple. Even the right has been heralding this lovely piece of democracy with the Scott Brown mess.
Democracy works at the bottom line, but when it comes to governing, we know it's flawed, everyone admits that. But to say that a corporation who has showed no interest in the common man since... well... since they got de-regulated would run a service used to prolong life, better than the government, then you need to re-evaluate your facts. So let me ask you to refute this one simple question:
Where is the logic in thinking the insurance companies who work for profit, will give you a better deal than the government who is looking just to cover expenses, not make a profit off you.

You will never get health care costs down, I guess, because you would be starting 60 years too late. And those insurance companies won't want to give up all that lovely money they're screwing out of you.
Sad, really. And sometimes I forget how much power is devolved over there to the individual states, and how much that seems to matter, especially when the rest of the world sees a homogenous entity.
Oh, and the Daily Mail is a crap lowbrow newspaper, forever getting its knickers in a twist about devilish foreigners (esp. muslims). It is not to be believed. But the relevant sentence is 'However, a Muslim couple must still be divorced in the British courts for it to recognised under British law.'
And I don't own a Fiat. I have a proper British car, a Ford. Made in Belgium, or Germany or somewhere.

Keith: You can't measure Health Care of a small island nation population of approximately 61 million with the population of the US at 309 million in GDP. You also haven't taken into account the inadequacies of our Government to implement Social programs correctly (tack on another 10% beaucratic fee). Between Income, FICA, and Medicare I'm taxed almost 40% of my paycheck, with Obama's new plan that surely will go up. That 10% of my paycheck I now give to charity, will get eaten up, so the FOP, SPCA, local Soup Kitchen will have less donations this year.

Actually it's completely different money Keith. I can go to my local School Board and voice complaints or issues, where as if funding came from Washington (and I didn't live there) I couldn't talk to those in charge of the funding.

Keith: You can’t measure Health Care of a small island nation population of approximately 61 million with the population of the US at 309 million in GDP. You also haven’t taken into account the inadequacies of our Government to implement Social programs correctly (tack on another 10% beaucratic fee). Between Income, FICA, and Medicare I’m taxed almost 40% of my paycheck, with Obama’s new plan that surely will go up. That 10% of my paycheck I now give to charity, will get eaten up, so the FOP, SPCA, local Soup Kitchen will have less donations this year.

It's a combination of both Rando, they want to help people, but they want to make money too. I see nothing wrong with that, most doctors are worth it. I would like to see teachers get paid more too, but that's an example of and institution that's government run and look how teachers are underpaid. Not saying I have the solution to that either I just don't want to see health care go the same way.

You spend 17% of your GDP on health. We spend about 9%. I have the freedom to give that 8% difference to the needy (Not that I do, as there are many consumer goods I haven't bought yet). As for state vs federal funding for education, well obviously it all comes out of your pocket whichever way round you are taxed. Muslims don't have to use sharia courts, where the hell did you get that idea? And some of the roads where I live are so narrow you have to drive down the middle, but luckily cars here are equipped with functioning steering wheels.

Charro it's ok we whooped them twice..... ;-)

To keithy: For the most part here Education is on a State Level (with minimal federal funding). As I said to VG, let it be done on a State Level, not a federal level, as our Constitution entended it to be. And yes I do whine about the federal gubbermnet getting involved with State Schools. No Child Left Behind I was against from the get go (as was pretty much everyone else).

Simple I have the freedom to choose whether or not to be Charitable and give my money to help the needy. Our Muslim women have the right to divorce without having to go through Sharia courts. Freedom to drive on the right side of the street (my God how do you people do that), freedom to choose my Health Care....

I'm a tory, ILPB, and incidentally a republican. I love freedom as much as anyone else, and all I really want from the goverment is for them to fVck off and leave me alone. But the argument for the NHS was won a long time ago, and it was a utilitarian, not a political one. Freedom had nothing to do with it.
Do you whine about the amount of your tax that goes towards education? Doesn't the greater good trump individual freedom in that case? I don't think that there's an argument for public education that doesn't apply to public healthcare.
Furthermore I'd be interested to know what freedoms you think you have in the US that we don't have in the UK, apart from the one about guns. Don't make me bring up McCarthy or Prohibition.

Paws: notice I quotated torture. B/c everybodies definition of torture is different.
ILPB, if it was proven that torture was a way of getting the information that you need, rather than of getting the victim to say something that they think you want to hear, and preferably (from their viewpoint), will require significant time to check out, then you might have a point about torture.
