No no no Rando, our Helath Care system is so antiquated b/c of those damn conservatives that all other countries now use Life Star Andorids as EMTs. They don’t need to sleep, or eat, or go to the bathroom during their 12-15 hours shifts on duty (you know the typical lazy American in the picture doesn’t have that luxury, he is only human).
In soviet america, typical american is still lazy.

How about you try being on call and getting a 911 request at 3AM because of someone with chest pains, and having to go out with virtually little to no sleep. It’s not fun, and it sure as hell isn’t lazy.
(Actually it’s even better when there’s a MVA and you have to respond via heavy rescue – it sucks working with extrication equipment even when you’re drained out.)

While you are correct, there are worst situations to be in. You don’t go into being a Paramedic with the idea that it’s strictly 9-5. If you did, you were misinformed.
I’m an Emergency Services worker myself, and when someone mentions that you have more than 2 minutes down time, that equals nap time. It’s a high stress, high demand job where how alert you are could be the difference between someone being alive, and someone dying. So good on him for having a rest. As they say here “A ten minute power nap could save your life”, or, in his case, someone else’s.
Thank you for your service. And to be honest, I would imagine this photo is a bit of horseplay, and not an actual nap.

Okay, folks, I think it was just a joke, not a criticism of EMTs. I didn’t see it as a slam on EMTs, just a silly joke about how sleepy this guy is. It doesn’t say anywhere that this nap isn’t deserved, as I think we all know it most definitely is. Everyone just needs to calm down a little and argue about something more interesting.
I hate it when EMTs sleep. Think of how many kittens and firefighters need saving.

Not gonna lie, people, I do that too. There’s nothing as relaxing as passing out in the back of an ambulance, sirens on, lights spinning…. you should try it, it’s great. Feel safe, sleep with a paramedic!
