Infographic: Beck vs. King

For those of you who haven’t seen it, here’s a flow chart comparing Glenn Beck with Martin Luther King, Jr. I know the rally is over and this isn’t really a lol or “funny ha-ha” or anything, but I thought it was pretty interesting. I hope you enjoy it.

  1. tl;dr: “RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACIST”

    Been there, done that. Next?

    • Nothing but hte Truth says:

The truth is often scarier than fiction.

      Beck a racist? You betcha.

      NEXT!

      • Thanks for entirely unintentionally proving my point. Sadly, you have no idea what it was.

        • Nailin Palin says:

Beck is a racist. And your “point” simply matches the one on your head.

          • Intelligent and well-reasoned as always…

            • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

I don’t think Beck is intentionally racist or even racist at all, but he is a douche nozzle.

              • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

Oh and what the hell does “tl;dr” mean?

                • I’m not arguing that he is or isn’t a douchenozzle (I don’t pay much attention to him, personally). I’m arguing against yet another reflexive insinuation of racism, which is all the ruling class and their stooges seem capable of lately.

                  tl;dr: “too long; didn’t read”

                  • The Amazing Rando says:

                    Aw, ninja’ed!

                  • The Amazing Rando says:

Here’s why I cry racism lately:
There is a great deal of anti-Muslim sentiment out there right now, centered mainly on the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque.” That in itself is not technically racism, but the anti-Muslim sentiment is bigotry. The racism part come from the fact that people only seem to hate on Muslims from the Middle East. My Bosnian boss at work is not being accused of jihads or terrorism. Naturally, the terrorists are coming from the Middle East, but does that really make it okay for people to hate on all Middle Eastern Muslims? I think not.
So to recap, anti-Muslim sentiment=bigotry. Anti-Middle Eastern Muslim sentiment=racism. Thank you, and God bless.
                    Love, The Amazing Rando

                    • dan_144 says:

I don’t hate Muslims, I hate terrorists. Terrorists just happen to claim to be Muslim.

                      • The Amazing Rando says:

SOME terrorists claim to be Muslim. But too many people have it out for all Muslims on the off-chance that they might be terrorists. Or worse yet, have gotten the warped idea that the Muslim religion wants to kill us all, when that’s the twisted view of some extremists.

                        • dan_144 says:

And that is wrong. That is profiling, and in a bad way.

                        • The Amazing Rando says:

You may remember after 9/11 that it was okay to torment anyone who even appeared to be from the Middle East. I felt bad for them even back then. There was an Islamic information center in Ballwin (near St. Louis) that was closed for a while after 9/11, likely out of fear of violence or vandalism. That sentiment seems to be back. Beck threw a hissy fit because Six Flags has Muslim Day on 9/12. It coincides with the end of Ramadan. It has nothing to do with 9/11. But racist jerks (and a simple Google search will prove I’m right without even having to click the links that pop up) turn it into “Muslims celebrate killing thousands of Americans by riding roller coasters on 9/12.”
                          It’s just awful.

                        • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Rando: I can understand you’re fear, however I think that you should realize that these groups had similar hatred prior to this. It’s getting more attention b/c of the Mosque/ Community Center. As I’ve said before it is disgusting behavior, however these same groups have been burning black Churches for years now, and it barely makes the news anymore. There is defently room for local authoirties to be on watch at Muslim areas, but I don’t think it’s the pandemic you fear.

Me personally have seen some people go out of their way as not to offend Muslims. I watched a TSA agent, NOT ask a women to remove her Burqa to confirm ID (no one even called a female to do it in private). Not that the woman was a terrorist, but how does the TSA agent know the name matches the ID? However my Driver’s license has a crack on it, and it’s unacceptable ID. Worse my passport photo has me clean shaven and I have a goatee now.

                        • todd says:

Not all Muslims are terrorists, but the last several terrorist attacks have been by Muslims(Extreme as they may be)…Still Muslim

                        • toni says:

There are terrorists that aren’t Muslims, e.g. the IRA. They are Christians! Catholics, to be precise!

                      • bemused-canadian says:

“Terrorists just happen to be Muslim…” Tell that to the Irish Republican Guard- who were Christian, or the Weathermen who weren’t a religious terrorist organization but a political one, or… but you probably get my point and now choose to ignore it.

                        • dan_144 says:

Sorry, accidental generalization. Some terrorists claim to be Muslim. I hate all the others too. My bad.

                      • SemperGunny says:

Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph claim to be Muslim?

                    • You know, I find it particularly sad that most *support* for the GZM — people who feel it’s appropriate to be built, not people who think it shouldn’t be blocked by the government — comes from reflexively taking the opposite position from what those stupid, inbred, intolerant rednecks down southare going to think. (Apparently certain kinds of bigotry are still acceptable.) It’s yet another issue getting twisted into a left vs. right debate by blind partisans.

Remember all those mosques in Mississippi and Louisiana and Georgia that got firebombed in 2001? Yeah, me neither. Americans are, by and large — and definitely by world standards — a pretty tolerant and accommodating people. It’s ridiculous to claim that 60-70% of the country — including a slim majority of self-identified Democrats, last I checked — is one Allahu Akbar away from killing themselves a furriner is ridiculous. Particularly when this “average American” gets more and more intolerant in lockstep with the declining poll numbers of the people calling him so.

                      • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Umm Dhoti, don’t you get it? If you don’t support the Mosque 100%, then according to Mr. Semper Gunny, you’re as bad as the Nazis and want to put all Muslim’s in the Death Camps. And according to Rando you are anti-Islam, and want to fire bomb all Mosques out there.

You know a Mormon Bishop was murdered today as well, I guess now there’s an Anti-Christian movement going on. The murderer had quit the church and become an Athiest. So I guess Athiest are now Anti-Christian and want to kill all religious leaders.

To Rando: Yes there is a minority in this country that are intolerant of those that are different, and choose wrong ways to vent that frustration. However there are those who are very tolerant, who just have a differing opinion on the Mosque. What was done in TN was disgusting and bigotted, and let those people who comitted the crime be punished to the full extent of the law. PERIOD.

                        • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

The GZM thing is annoying now. Everyone agrees that it’s perfectly legal and perfectly within their rights, we just disagree on it’s particular *location*.

Is that a fair assessment? Yes. Can we get back to better debates now? Yes? Good.

As far as our racism problem in America, why don’t we do this? Anyone who is racist, bigoted, or inbred, we just fine them $10,000 dollars for every racist, bigoted, or inbred thing they ever done/said? That’ll make up for at least 75% of our deficit AND race relations would get better. Both problems solved!

                        • dan_144 says:

Who gets to decide what is racist? “He is the cotton-picking President of the United States.” Is this racist?

                        • The Amazing Rando says:

And I think that differing opinion is wrong. Period.

                        • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Does that include Democrats as well? Like the Biden Comment? How about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton for some of their wrods? Rev Wright? As long as it’s enacted appropiately I’m game. Problem is that stupid 1st Amendment, which would be hard to get by.

                        • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Rando: I think you’re opinion that you have to support this Mosque 100% or your a bigot is in itself bigotted. There is a big difference between this and gay marriage, or other things.

I’m really close to going off on you. How dare you think I’m a bigot b/c I’m against the Mosque (but will not do anything to stop it from being built). You need to get off your high horse and open you mind, b/c you are right now one of the most close minded individuals I have met online. You’re acting just as close minded as Pulse or Zipper….. it’s really beneath you.

                        • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

                          @Dan

That’s a $10,000 fine buddy. Cough it up.

                          @PB

Why yes, Dems as well. Rev Wright, Al Sharpton, & Jesse Jackson owe us at least 3.5 billion each.

                        • The Amazing Rando says:

Whatever, dude. I’m not gonna change your mind, and you’re not gonna change mine. Might as well let it go.

                        • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Rando: We won’t change each other’s minds, I don’t want to change your mind about the Mosque, I just wish you wouldn’t believe me a bigot for my belief.

                        • The Amazing Rando says:

I find your stance confusing, because it doesn’t really seem to mesh with other things you usually say. But I don’t want to talk about it anymore. Let’s move on.

                        • Wicket says:

The Tali Ban agree that the Mosque should not be built. It helps demonize America.

A $10000 fine for the comment or the quote?

                      • BabsControl says:

Hey, watch the profiling there, son. I happen to be from New Orleans. So yeah, if you’re going to speak about bigotry, don’t make yourself into a hypocrite. Not all southerners are stupid, inbred, or intolerant, just like not all people from Appalachia are hicks who enjoy sodomizing outsiders (a la Deliverance).

                        On topic:
You don’t hate the religion nor the people, you hate the haters, the radicals (meanwhile, on the home front, we have our own radicals: the left, the right, corrupt politicians, politicians who care NOT for the people). Radicals will always exist, we simply need to seclude them, keep them OUT of office and positions of authority, and instill some common sense and dignity into institutional government, religion, and lifestyle.

                        • That’s a fine speech — but you should be telling it to the people who assume you’re ignorant, bigoted, and worthless because you don’t live in the “right” state. That’s not me, sport.

                        • dissimilitude says:

But….but, sodomizing outsiders is fun! :-(

*sigh* NOW how are we supposed to increase tourism?

                        • dissimilitude says:

And what am I supposed to do with this shipment of t-shirts saying “Come for the sodomy, stay for the barbecue!”?

                      • OutOfTheBox says:

                        tl;dr

                        • dan_144 says:

Next time try an actual response. Your stupidity there just makes you look like an incompetent school child. If two paragraphs is too long for you, how did you escape elementary school?

                        • LaFeeVerte says:

Considering the person you just insulted is a teacher, I’d say they know from actual schoolchildren.

                          Try to play nice, please.

                        • dan_144 says:

Sorry. I’m a little tired of people saying tl;dr to everything they disagree with. If you disagree, explain why. Don’t just dismiss it with a stupid acronym.

                • The Amazing Rando says:

                  too long; didn’t read

      • Obama says:

Education Secretary: go to Sharpton rally

Obama’s Education Secretary Arne Duncan urged 4,000 employees to attend the rally of Reverend Al Sharpton. That’s pretty much unheard of in political circles, usually civil servants are supposed to avoid political rallies at all costs. But not this administration! Oh, we can only imagine what would be happening right now if George W. Bush urged people to attend the Glenn Beck rally!

    • Dan says:

Yes, this is obviously racist against white people, proving that Obama’s plans to subjugate whitey are moving faster than we’d expected!

      • scouty says:

GUARD YOUR TRAILERS!! READY YOUR WEAPONS!! PRESERVE AMERICA!! DIE OBAMA! DIIIIEEEE!!! i’m done………

      • imillard says:

I have reread the captions and contents of the image, and didn’t see Obama’s name mentioned once.
What are you idiots talking about?

See if you can stay on subject.
        For example:

This chart proves once again, there is no such thing as blacks and whites. Just smart people like King, and abysmally stupid people like Beck (and his followers.)

        • dan_144 says:

Very nice generalization there, buddy. Automatically, you spew that all people who agree with Glenn Beck are stupid. Very nice. Except, I happen to agree with him, and I’m not stupid. Ask around.

          • imillard says:

            Bad news.
Followers of Beck are automatically stupid.
And, thanks for proving my point.

One last thing. I’m NOT your “buddy.”
I don’t associated with stupid people. Dumb is contagious.

            • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Wow you are such an open minded individual. You know what’s a sign of stupidity, inability to think outside the box. You have a very very small box (mind). **steps away from imillard so as not to catch his dumbas$ery** Dude who has the alcohol to clean off all this dumb$hitness?

    • Danielle says:

This is hands down, THE, most brilliant thing I have ever read =]

  2. Anya says:

Though I do despise Beck’s popularity and stance on pretty much everything (yes, I’m a liberal; got a problem with that?), comparing him to Mr. King is not fair. MLK is not beyond criticism, either.
(But some of Beck’s shortcomings did make me wince. Probably wouldn’t be as bad with context, but…Yale? One class? Really?)

    • B says:

It’s because Beck ginned up a speech on the same day and the same spot as MLK’s dream speech, even sent out videos suggesting that his speech would be a world-changing event, on the level on King’s speech, the flag at Iwo Jima, and the moon landing.

  3. itsybitsy says:

Oh good! Let’s do one with Rev. Al Sharpton on one side!!

    • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

      Lets.

    • The Amazing Rando says:

Is there a reason why we’re comparing Sharpton to Beck? Seems arbitrary.

      • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

I think b/c Sharpton happened to have a rally in DC on the same day, yet somehow this POS website which is really getting pi$$ingly liberal lately, doesn’t do a “Let’s make fun of Sharpton” cartoon, but have done two Glen Beck ones. It’s just getting to the point of coming on here and all you really see is “Tea Party is racist, wants to kill Muslims”/ “Glen Beck is one crazy SOB and racist”/ “Anything Conservative is an idiot and dumba$$”…… it’s just boring man.

And yes there is some anit-Islamic feelings out there b/c of the Mosque, but you have jumped to the conclusion anyone who is against the Mosque is anti-Islam, and that is of itself a complete and utter hypocritical move on your part. Just b/c you don’t support the Mosque doesn’t mean you’re anti-Islam, it just means that you might not think putting a Mosque on the site where property was damaged by falling debri by radical Muslims is such a good idea. As I’ve said if it was a Christian attack, and someone wanted to build a church, I would be against it too. Also are you sayin all the Msulim population who’s against it are “anti-Muslim” as well? YOU need to look in the mirror and see the hypocrisy you’re spouting open being open minded when you’re being just as closed minded.

        • The Amazing Rando says:

          Hmmm…interesting…nope, I still think I’m right.

          • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

So I’m anti-Islam b/c I don’t support the Mosque. Wow Rando, that’s new low for even you.

            • Evil Boober says:

              No, it’s right on par.

              • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

No it’s not on par, or else I wouldn’t be saying it. Go screw a goat or whatever it is you do in your Mom’s basement.

                • OutOfTheBox says:

have you thought of taking an anger management course?

I think we can say ass. asshat and dumbass without dollar signs.

                  • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

See that comment above “have you thought of taking an anger management course?” can easily be taken out of context, and usually would get an a$shat response. And we’ve been through this before, my computer won’t let me.

                    • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Have you read my posts. I’m the most infamous bad speller./ grammar guy on here.

            • The Amazing Rando says:

Yes, I see the reasoning behind not supporting the mosque as anti-Islam. If you don’t like it, tough.
              “new low for even you.”
Why thank you. I love it when you slip into conservatroll mode. You become completely intolerable to talk to. Again, conservapedia may be more up your alley. According to Kn0w, they love to dump on us evil liberals there.

              • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Rando: See b/c you’re being close minded I’m a conservatroll. RIIIIIGGGGGHTTTTTTT!!!

What if I said I’m 100% supporting the Mosque anywhere in the city where debri didn’t damage a building to the point of being condemned. What if I support the Islamic community center going up 1 mile from my house? What if I support haing a Government holiday for Ramedan (b/c it is Muslim’s equivalent to Christmas)? Didn’t think to ask those things. No it’s “You’re against one Mosque you’re against an entire religion!” You’re being a close minded a$$hat.

I’ve never called liberals evil… you’re the one calling me a bigot. You’re porjecting your fear from a minority of indivduals onto this one issue, and b/c of that you my friend have turned into a liberatroll.

                • The Amazing Rando says:

                  1. It’s not a mosque.
                  2. It’s 2 blocks from Ground Zero.
                  3. Since the builders of this community center are not terrorists there is no reason for them to go elsewhere.
                  4. If someone HAD decided to put a Christian church there, we wouldn’t have even heard about it.
                  5. This is going in circles. We’ve been over the same information 100 times already.

                  • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

But you still think I’m a bigot. Even though I’ve shown you proof to the otherwise.

                    • The Amazing Rando says:

I just really don’t see any reason for opposition to this in the first place. I don’t think you’re a bigot, but I think your view (as well as many many other people) on this building is wrong. That’s all there is to it. Many people who oppose this building are bigots. Many don’t even realize they are.

                      • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Ahh the old, you don’t even know you are one line…… I guess my front tooth feels that I must be a bigot for losing it to some dumba$$ LI “boy” when he went after my friend after 9/11. But I guess that’s the addage “I’m not racsist, some of my friends are black” line.

…and he just said he didn’t think you are a bigot. didn’t you read what he said?

BTW, I know this is a very complex issue with a huge range of opinions and reasons behind those opinions.

I am in favor of the Muslim community center, because I believe it will prove that the terrorists were wrong… that we are not the hateful enemy of Islam.

A dear friend of mine, who is Muslim, believes they should find another location. she says that they DO have a LEGAL right to build there, but they should be wiser than to do so.

OOB: He did say he didn’t think I was a bigot, but then he threw in the “Many people who oppose this building are bigots. Many don’t even realize they are.” But I’m done Rando and I made our peace below.

Rando & PB, chill out you guys. I know this is a hot button issue, but why so serial? We’re all pretty passionate about this, but calling each other trolls isn’t going to bring us anywhere…

                • OutOfTheBox says:

                  1. you have called liberals “a$$hat” (please, drop the dollar signs)

                  2. the Six Flags day for Muslims is for Eid, the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, not for Ramadan itself. Muslims are not allowed to et or drink anything during daylight hours during Ramadan, so the next day is a big holiday… when they can party all day long. It is Eid that is like our Christmas.

                  {BTW, Muslims who are too young, too old, pregnant, nursing, or in poor health, are not allowed/required to participate in the fasting of Ramadan.}

                  Eid Mubarak

                  • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

                    1. I will use dollar signs if I please. Thanks….. as my computer will edit out swear words. And where did I call all liberals a$shats?

                    2. I didn’t say anything about Six Flags did I? I said I would support a Federal Holiday to celebrate Ramadan, since Eid is technically part of Ramadan (like the Last Supper and Good Friday are ususally part of the Easter Celebration).

I guess I’m trying to find where your post was going.

                    • OutOfTheBox says:

I am fortunate in that I can control mine.

my Muslim friends make a big distinction between Ramadan and Eid, even though they are connected. kind of like Mardi Gras and Lent are connected, but not thought of as the same thing, or as one being part of the other.

                      where was I going?
to provide information. not everything posted to you is an attack.
did you read the last part of my post? you made no reference to it. so I will further explain:

I realize what you are saying about the Muslim community center… that it is legal, you realize and acknowledge they have a right to build it, and you will not try to stop them. but, at the same time, you feel it is not a wise thing to do. maybe you are even concerned that it might draw harm to those attending, and start a whole new wave of hostility on both sides. that is how my Muslim friend feels.

.. and you have called people “a$$hat,” (me included) when they express liberal views, or say anything you feel is insulting to you. (even if it isn’t you you are being just a tad… overreactive)

                      • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

I’m never overreactive you ignorant a$sbag!!! (look new word, btw I was kidding, you’re not an as$bag).

But I never say, “All liberals are a$shats or dumba$ses” have I. And it’s not just liberal views, it has in times been a bit condescending in the expression of it.

I liked the albums produced by Dre. Him and Pac had perfect chemistry, so his production fit well. The albums produced by Em were just…bleh. I mean I’m a HUGE fan of Eminem, but his producing style does not mix well with Pac’s style of rhyming. West Coast has more groove & funk. East is grittier and more hard hitting. His style goes better with Jay Z.

As far as Pac still being alive, first he was supposed to come back in the year 2000, seven years after his death. Didn’t happen. Then they said the calculations were wrong so it was supposed to be 2005. My graduation day, I watched the news all day to see if it’ll happen. Nothing. Now he’s supposedly supposed to be back in 2012. The guy is dead already! Let him rest in peace. He gave us great music and some of the best poetry I’ve ever read. Let the man be dammit!

  6. Puggg says:

They left out a few things about Martin Luther King:

    * Plagiarized somewhere between one-half and two-thirds of his Ph.D. dissertation (source: WSJ)

    * Most of “his” great works were written for him, mainly by white liberals and radicals friendly with the civil rights movement, including the Birmingham Jail letter.

    * In spite of being a Christian pastor, privately doubted the divinity of Christ (source: Ralph Abernathy)

    * In spite of professing Christianity and all its moral teachings, was known to have many extra-marital affairs and numerous sordid group sex sessions (source: FBI wiretaps ordered by RFK), including the night before he was assassinated (source: Ralph Abernathy)

And now one supposition on my part:

    * James Earl Ray was a front. The assassination of MLK was ordered by his “friends” in the Civil Rights movement, because they wanted a dead martyr instead of a discredited washed-up old preacher on their hands.

Now, for you libs, I will grant you this part:

    * The aforementioned niece that Mark mentions, who was with Glenn Beck and on his side, is no conservative. The only reason she’s running around with lamestream conservatives is because she’s on the outs with the rest of the King family, and it’s all got to do with money.

          • dan_144 says:

One of them offered Olberman for Beck, but I declined their generous offer.

          • The Amazing Rando says:

Is Sharpton a pundit? I thought he was just an attention whore.
As for Olbermann and Maddow, you gotta admit, neither are nearly as high profile as the likes of Beck, who has pimped himself out greatly. Olbermann has Countdown, and memories of SportsCenter. And not many people take him seriously. He’s gone so far over the top, and he does nothing but obsess over what the right wing pundits have to say instead of saying something useful or constructive himself. That’s the thing about liberal pundits. They’re not nearly as high profile as the right wing pundits and they don’t have near the influence as right wing pundits. And that scares me about right wing pundits.

            • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Sharpton seems pundit enough for me. :-)

I think that the Right Wing Pundits don’t have as much power as you think. Yes there are sheeple, but I think part of the reason the “right” pundits have the appearance of power is b/c the standard media is so left it a) portrays that and b) anything outside of that is perceived as training sheeple. However the left’s voice is heard more often than the rights. Just a theory, could be wrong.

Those that scare me are the Palin’s and other Politicians that start sounding like Pundits.

              • Dan says:

Going to have to disagree with you there. The right has been much more effective (at least until recently) at presenting a solid front, while the left has always been more fractured. The 2006 and 2008 elections have been the closest in years that the Dems have come to actually being unified, and in both cases all they really had to do was take advantage of people’s Bush fatigue.

Beck and his ilk are much more effective at pushing a message than their liberal counterparts. Even if you’re right and the left’s ‘voice’ is heard more often, 5 voices loudly speaking one message gets through more clearly than 10 babbling different messages.

And I have to disagree with the continued portrayal of Fox News as some sort of outsider. They’re just as much a part of the news media establishment as the other two major networks, they’re just spreading a different message. In every case, you have pundits who are speaking what their viewers want to hear regardless of whether or not facts support their views on that particular issue. A pundit’s job is not to inform, but to give people what they want; failure to give the audience what they want to see means they find someone else who will give it.

The major difference I see between Beck and the liberal pundits? I have never heard crowds of people insist that Olbermann is just giving them the truth the ‘mainstream’ doesn’t want them to hear. Blind faith in any pundit, a lack of willingness to fact check, is dangerous, and Beck just happens to be the one who inspires it more. That he’s willing to relate so many things to Nazism no matter how poor the connection makes him, in my mind, even worse because of the faith that his viewership has in him.

                • Dan says:

The above said, Rando’s pretty much spot on about Olbermann. His seeming obsession with taking FN down a few pegs seems to cloud his ability to actually offer anything constructive. I would include him as part of the problem.

And Al Sharpton has never been someone I’ve taken seriously. He comes across as more interested in his own public image as a leader than in showing actual leadership.

As far as Maddow goes, the only time I’ve watched her was an episode where she tore apart the argument of a ‘cured’ gay man whose writing about homosexuality (including discredited claims about homosexuality and molestation) was used to help justify the anti-homosexual laws in Uganda (the infamous ‘Kill the Gays Bill’). I can’t honestly judge without having seen more of her, and it would be dishonest to insult simply for the sake of being ‘fair’ in criticizing both the left and right (which should be about the substance of the claims made by the pundits and not simply about mocking them equally).

          • OutOfTheBox says:

True story, I knew I guy who worked in Austin for Whole Foods and the recycling bin was full. The manager told him to just dump the recycling bin in the dumpster so that people could still use it. The guy actually quit over the principle of the thing. I think it’s funny because people who shop at places like that tend to be a little too smug about it and they are really just supporting another giant corporation that they think they are rebelling against by shopping there. Kinda like the people who shop at Hot Topic.

We are in dire straits, Martin, can you not intercede for ALL of us who believe in your dream?

    • viking gal says:

Beck basically asked for the comparison. He might not have intentionally chosen to speak on the anniversary of MLK’s famous speech, and the location is neutral. But once he found out about the anniversary, he milked it for what he could. So I’ve no sympathy. And I don’t see hate, I see a comparison between a pundit and a politically active minister. With the exception of *cringe* Charles Kraufthammer, most pundits are NOT going to compare well.

  10. scouty says:

It kind of jumped 6 years near the end. What happened there that the author doesnt bother to mention?

And some saints were great sinners but then saw the light, but those are just fables and cant possibly happen to people, right???

SO any message that Beck puts out is instantly wrong (no matter how much merit it has) because of a colorful past in the entertainment end of media.

Lets treat Obama the same way then, except that his message is poison for America and doesnt actually have merit on its side, no matter how much drugs he did while young or his valueless time-serving in legislature it doesnt change that.

Beware the Sword of Truth cuts both ways.

    • juharr says:

Did drugs? Consorted with terrorists? Are you sure you’re not talking about George W Bush?

      • Pulse says:

Come back when you are back into reality there boy.

Google William Ayers and Obamas own book about his youth.

        • The Amazing Rando says:

Yeah, you got it. Obama just loves the terrorists. You’re a fvcking moron, you know that? Just THINK about how ridiculous that sounds. He knew Ayers. He didn’t study terrorism under him. As for the drugs, apparently he did some drugs in his youth. A lot of people do. He stopped. That’s a good thing. And yeah, your buddy GWB was a cokehead and a drunk, so stop looking down your nose at people.

          • Some Guy says:

Obama does coke, and it’s a youthful indiscretion. GWB does coke, and he’s a cokehead. That’s some lovely hypocrisy you got going on there.

            • viking gal says:

GWB was pulled over for driving under the influence at the age of 30, and claimed at one point that it was a ‘youthful indiscretion’.
So where shall we draw the lines? How old? How many uses? How long a period of use is allowed?

              • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Well some people take longer to grow up than others. Come on Obama plays with a light saber!!!!! (before some idiot takes this as me being serious, I’m not).

              • Miss Fit says:

I could make a joke about GWB having an infantile mind, but that’d make me a hypocrite, I’m afraid…

                • Miss Fit says:

Nevermind, ILPB has done a good and subtle job already. :)

                • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

Not necessarily; hypocracy would be when/if you don’t admit to having an infantile mind and still make jokes about Dubya.

                  • Miss Fit says:

But I really can’t stand it when people call me infantile. I just like watching Spongebob, damnit!

                    • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

That’s different, but only because he was well named when they called him Squarepants. I like animation; just not that one!

                      • Miss Fit says:

*LE GASP* How could you NOT like him?! He’s so cute, so yellow, so.. squarish. Alright alright, I must admit that I solely watch it because Patrick is my hero. So dumb yet still alive, that’s awesome. That, and Mr. Crabs (at least, that’s how he’s called here, albeit differently spelled) is so perfectly in tune with the Dutch mindset, being Scrooge McScroogerson and all..

                  • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

looking at Miss Fit’s picture….. I have to side on caution with her. :-) Not that I’m compalining about the picture, but it isn’t he bastion of non-infantile… :-)

            • The Amazing Rando says:

              Just responding in kind.

        • Wicket says:

You drank the kool-aid. I’d say enjoy your new Fox News America, if i didn’t actually have to live in it.

          • dan_144 says:

You don’t. Go move to Europe with the other people I’ve asked to go. You’ll like it there, trust me. Socialist “utopia” so I’ve been told.

            • Wicket says:

I like Texas, but I hate Texas representation. Is it ok to b1tch about politics without being asked to leave the country? You call our elected Democratic President a *list of BS the right-wing calls our President* and then tell me to move to a different country when I say i disagree with you.

              • dan_144 says:

You’re the one complaining about living here, so don’t get upset with me when I offer you a solution. Also, when have I called the President names? Unless socialist counts, I don’t name call, I debate.

                • The Amazing Rando says:

What’s wrong with trying to improve the country? If we don’t like the way the country we live in is being run, then why say “go live in Europe.” Why not try to make it better? Just because YOU don’t like the direction we want to the country we should leave?

                  • dan_144 says:

Nothing’s wrong with trying to improve the country, but I don’t believe that’s what is happening. People are complaining that they don’t like America, so I’m letting them know that there’s a completely valid option of leaving it.

    • scouty says:

      BOOOOOO!!!! *throws tomato*

    • LaFeeVerte says:

The Sword of Truth? Did you roll a d20 to get it? Will it cut a +50 Wedge of Cheese?

      • Default User says:

He cheated and read the DM’s papers while the DM was in the bathroom so he knew where all the traps and treasures were in the temple. That’s also how he found out the dragon guarding the treasure was severely allergic to Mountain Dew. Seriously, don’t game with this guy.

        • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

I thought he used rigged dice. However I also heard his mom’s basement smells like mothballs and used kitty litter.

    • shimauma says:

well said Pulse. Careful telling the truth tho, the libtards could be in danger of having brain aneurisms…if they had brains

      • The Amazing Rando says:

Brain aneurysm, you freaking moron. If you’re gonna insult our supposed lack of brains, at least act like you have one.

        • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

I believe it’s grammatically correct to say “going to” vice “gonna”. (Had to try and get Danabla’s law in there somewhere)

The rest I totally agree with. I do see the irony in that. I do feel kind of sorry for the dog in the picture though….. poor thing doesn’t stand a chance.

      • Danbala says:

I admire your random capitalisation. Please inform us more about the brainless state, as you seem to have some exclusive insight.

    • Dan says:

So anything Beck says has merit and anything Obama says does not?

    • Wicket says:

Is there more kool-aid, or did you drink it all?

    • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

  13. Erik says:

Wow, this sight is really Liberal, I have not seen even one center of teh road cartoon thing like this.

    • The Amazing Rando says:

There have a been a few, but yeah the SITE is liberal leaning, but that’s because that’s the kind of readership it has.

      • dan_144 says:

Shameless plug: You want some liberalols, check me out. Nah just kidding. I have a few, but they’re average at best. There are a few on the site, but they’re not so great either. If you see a good one, share it. If you think of a good one, make it.

        • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Difference is non one makes the fvcking Cartoons. I don’t care about the LOLs, but the Cartoons are voted on but just posted. Come on Dan…

          • The Amazing Rando says:

Then click on the thing at the top that says “captions.” You won’t have to look at any of those filthy liberal cartoons anymore. I’ve heard conservapedia is a good place to go to hate on flaming fvcking liberals too.

            • dan_144 says:

Nono.. I liek the funnies on here. I’ll laugh at anything funny. And clean. And that completely agrees with me. Wait, not much on here does. Good thing I’m flexible.

            • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Or you could actually support a bi-partisan avenue. You know that who, let’s bring the country together you liberals seem to be touting. Who’s being devisive now? **waits for the spin job**

              • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

                DO NOT GO ON CONSERVAPEDIA!!!

Even my Right wing, Christian, Creationist, Conservative friends hate it!

                • Naliord says:

I just had a look – I can’t stop laughing. If you take it as a satirical website à la “The Onion”, it is quite amusing.

                  Quote from the main page:

“Sarah Palin’s endorsement is considered the political gold standard for conservatives.”

                  Ahh .. the interwebs.

              • The Amazing Rando says:

I really don’t think PK is going to bring the country together, dude.

          • The Amazing Rando says:

BTW, these cartoons seem to get lots and lots of comments, so it’s no surprise that they keep coming. And it’s also no surprise that many of them come from conservatives visiting this site, so you guys are digging your own hole on that front.

            • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

And if there was one against liberals (you know the 1 and 10) you get the same flame war. God Rando something really crawled up yer a$$ and died about conservatives lately. You have a really hard time diserning the nut jobs from the mentally competent. As I said, you lost your open mind.

              • Ivan Teh Sock Monkey says:

In Rando’s defense, he’s one of the last liberals in a sea of conservatrolls, and they’ve all taken aim at him. The rest of us are almost all gone.

                • The Amazing Rando says:

And they DO take aim at me. Allllll the time.

                  • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

I’ve felt I’ve put my fair share of Conservatrolls in their place. Ivan, where’d you go?

                    • The Amazing Rando says:

Here’s my question, to play devil’s advocate a little. Is this all pizzabutt’s doing or is he the victim of idiot bosses passing down orders of “do it liberal, it gets people posting like crazy!”
Either way, he does seem to have a bit of an attitude with us, doesn’t he?

                    • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

**hands Rando petition that says “Get Pizza Da Hutt off PK”** You wanna sign?

**sits and wonders how long until pizza decides to moderate him for being mean to pizza**

                • dan_144 says:

There are a fair share of conservatrolls, but it is BY NO MEANS an epidemic. There are plenty of liberatrolls on here. There are also several fair conservatives and liberals. Rando is a fair liberal. People do take aim at him, because he disagrees with him. Trust me, it’s not only conservatrolls out there.

              • The Amazing Rando says:

Well I guess in the mayhem you missed my posts defending conservatives on the whole. Conservatives are good people who I disagree strongly with on a great many issues.

                • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

I think it’s the Mosque issue. And to be honest, haven’t been here much. just the Glen Beck posts that seem to have you frothing at conservatives and not just the trolls.

                  • The Amazing Rando says:

Well, I get snippy, but overall I like you, and Dhoti, and dan who is pretty new but is a pretty good guy. I get passionate about things. We all do. And I despise Beck, so it really brings the froth out. But it’s mostly aimed at trolls.

              • Wicket says:

which one are you ILPB? nut job or mentally competent? just curious.

          • Dan says:

I could always share the one comparing Beck’s and Sharpton’s rallies by showing Beck saying something pious and Sharpton saying something he never actually said to make him look worse than he already makes himself look.

      • Always Right says:

This is total crap, and I want humor here. They used to have funny jokes about both the major parties. Now it’s all just Beck/Palin/Bush smashing. Seriously guys? Bush smashing? Not only is it a great euphemism, but it’s old news. He was president, he’s not any more. Obama sucks pretty bad too.

  14. kake79 says:

*sobbing quietly in the corner* Can’t… I… just… *sniffle* get a LOL? I want to laugh. I’ve had a rough few days. Why do we have to go at each other’s throats on what is supposed to be a humor site?

Editor: Please just give us the LOLs and save the political cartoons for the papers.

  15. B says:

    Both registered Republicans

    • Wicket says:

and Texas used to vote Democratic, what’s your point?

      • crazny says:

        /facepalm

and China used to believe the earth was flat while the heavens were round, what’s yours?

        • Dan says:

He’s pointing out that MLK having been a Republican doesn’t necessarily mean he’d identify with the modern Republican party.

Personally, I’m pretty sure Reagan would be considered too liberal at this point.

          • crazny says:

Because the modern Republican party is calling for the segregation of blacks?

            • Dan says:

Do you intentionally read things that aren’t there into people’s statements? The Republican party has changed since the 60s, that much is widely agreed on (whether the change has been for the worse or for the better is what’s less agreed on). Someone who might have voted Democrat 100 years ago might vote Republican now, and vice versa. Simply stating that MLK registered Republican adds nothing to this discussion.

              • crazny says:

Nooooo, I’m pointing out what your words mean. You said MLK wouldn’t agree with today’s modern Republicans. And I pointed out, “what modern Republican is calling for the segregation along certain skin color lines that Democrats were calling for back then?” (weee! long form!)

Anyways, apparently democrats decided to say screw you and become racist republicans and republicans decided to say screw you and become racists democrats. Cause that makes TOTAL SENSE. In the 60s or something.

                • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

Are you saying that the only reason MLK joined the Republicans was their Human Rights stance? It is in no way conceivable that he joined them for other reasons, and would now find himself more closely alighned with the Democrats?

                  • crazny says:

Do tell what the allure of modern democrats are to Reverend King.

                    • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

Your assertion was that because MLK was a 1960s Republican he’d be a 2010 one had he lived (given his age when assassinated, that’s still not a certainty). It’s for you to provide proof. All I did was ask the question.

                • Dan says:

Since you’re going to continue to insist on misreading my statements, my only response from this point is: “QUACK”

                • Kn0wledge1ne: The King of TurtleLand says:

There’s absolutely NO evidence that MLK was a Registered Republican.

                  • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Google Alveda King. She was his niece and basically says that the king familiy (Father and Jr) started to part ways with the Republican party after Senator Kennedy worked for Jr’s release from jail, and Nixon ignored the pleas. (Ironically it was Nixon and the Republicans who voted FOR the Civil Rights Bill, and Kennedy and the Democrats who voted against it).

      • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Texans got intelligent!!!!! ;-) (had *pause* to *pause* say *pause* it!)

  16. Colman says:

So the ONLY cool thing Beck has ever done was buy a DeLorean.

  17. Zip Zop Zoobity Bop says:

To the people complaining that there’s no liberal pundits being torn into: it’s pretty simple. This is a site open to the whole world. A large proportion of us do not know who most of your US pundits are. But quite a few of us know who Glen Beck is. He’s appeared in almost every major Canadian newspaper the day after this rally. He appears on our news shows in “Around the World” segments. We know him. This site isn’t just for Americans. Think about it.
I could complain that Stephen Harper isn’t getting picked on enough, or Gordon Campbell. But I won’t because a lot of people don’t know who they are. So just relax.

    • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

**looks at top of page, sees Elephant and Donkey logo that is Red white and Blue with Stars** UMMM it may be on the WWW, but it’s definitely an American Site based mostly on American Politics. And why would Canada care about Glen Beck? Let me guess, “We’re scared of what he has in followings.” (But I thought only conservatives used the Fear tactic!!!!)

      • viking gal says:

Actually, Canadian (or UK) media is an interesting way to get a 3rd opinion on US politics. Just saying!

        • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Yes it would, however with what the guy said above needed that type of response. And it wasn’t even a mean one from me.

          • viking gal says:

I didn’t mean to imply your response was mean. Just pointing out the possible resource. :)

            • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

It’s probably fair comment to say that us non-Americans are more likely to know the names of American pundits who say things that we are likely to find one or more of stupid, funny and outrageous, yes? Given that we think that the “left wing” of American politics is moderate right of centre, it’s petty much a given that we’re going to be more wound up by your “right wing” pundits, and therefore…

              • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Not trying to be mean or what not, but why do you care about our Pundits at all? I hear lot’s that American’s need to be more interested in their own people, and stay out of the rest of the world, yet the rest of the world tries to get involved with our Politics. Seems kind of like a contradiciton to me.

                • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

Why wouldn’t we care? Pundits influence the opinions of the general populance, and the US economy is big enough to affect the economies of the rest of the World.

                  • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Actually the pundits just influence the people who’ll vote their line anyhows. Pundits have very little pull on the independents or moderates who actually decide the election. You may hear a Beck say something that scares you, and hear the parrots repeat it, but the parrots would have voted Repulbican anyhows (you aren’t going to change their vote).

  18. hakd says:

    Nobody outside usa know beck

  19. Sammy says:

This comparison list that makes MLK look awesome and Beck look like a moron. So the first thing to do is to list all of MLK’s hidden faults that were left off the list. Nobody has any awesome contributions of Becks that might make him look even a little bit better?

    • viking gal says:

      Zing!

    • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Umm how about his donations of millions to Wounded Veterans? Oh wait that’s a pi$s poor cause isn’t it.

      • viking gal says:

        OK, we have one! Next?

        • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

All I needed was one to prove Sammy wrong. Not that I like defending Beck, I dislike even more that people say someone’s never contributed anything good, when they might have.

          • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

Giving that poor unfortunate girl who used to work under Jim Bakker a respectable job! ;)

          • Miss Fit says:

Aaaaaand, I’m betting that he wanted to give those Christmas decorations he attempted to steal to poor homeless orphans.

            • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Hey I was asked to come up with one good thing he did, I did that. That’s my point. Let’s not go off and say I’m defending the guy and thinking he’s the next best thing, I’ll leave that to Pulse and Zipperhead, I just had to paly devil’s adovcate there. And I did, with style and Grace (now where’d she go?).

              • Miss Fit says:

Aw don’t worry, I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic to your response, just playing along and stuff. :) Besides, stealing Christmas decorations in public counts as an Awesome-point in my book, so I’ll have to give Beck that.

          • Sammy says:

I actually wasn’t looking for a “zing” or to be proven wrong. @@ I know, dumb forum to ask a question and expect a reasonably debated response.

I don’t know much about Beck besides idiotic rants, but that doesn’t mean he has nothing to contribute to society. If I’m taking this comparison chart as some above have implied, then the creator took all of the best of MLK and paired it with the worst of Beck. I was looking for information to round out the picture. I appreciate that he’s given millions to wounded veterans, but hasn’t he also encouraged wars that caused those veterans to be wounded in the first place?

Like Viking said…that’s one. Any more?

  20. Anon says:

I’m sorry but you can’t compare the two, it’s just wrong to do so, both are very different people, besides Beck’s rally wasn’t supposed to be political in any way, it was supposed to try to unite americans through “the content of their character” that’s the reason Beck made his speech on MLK’s anniversary, he never tried to compare himself, but instead tried to pay homage to the man himself.

Also I think we all had a bit of #41 running through us in past years, anyone who hasn’t is not worth talking to

    • Miss Fit says:

Hmmyeah, but there is a difference between thinking about killing someone (we all want to secretly choke that annoying co-worker/teacher/boss/parent/etc sometimes) and openly voicing it on television when you have a public role and a crapload of people adoring every word you say.

Besides that, I may not be American so I don’t get every newsflash on political happenings there, but I have heard enough about Beck to question his motives about having a speech right there, right on that particular date. And no, sorry, neither do I believe that his motives were non-political.

  21. Pulseczar says:

Point taken, but Glenn Beck sounds like a much more fun person to hang out with.

    • Miss Fit says:

Yeah, dead people are so boring. And they never even answer when I ask how they are doing nowadays! Just dead silence. I mean, talk about rude.

      • OutOfTheBox says:

actually, Id prefer the silent dead guy to Beck

      • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Or if they be Zombies just the typical moan.

        • Miss Fit says:

Yeah! Always moaning about everything, so annoying. It’s like they don’t appreciate life at all. Someone should should tell them to brighten up a little.

          • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

And change their clothes, they’re always filthy. And maybe some oral hygene. And come on suck up your guts, they don’t need to be draaign across my new carpet.

            • Miss Fit says:

Some tic-tacs definitely wouldn’t hurt, no. But new clothes – well, I can imagine that they’re not gutsy enough to walk into high-fashion stores. All the staring, it must hurt their feelings, should they have enough brain left to register emotion.

  22. Gildedmuse says:

If I took the time out to actual define racist it wouldn’t help, would it? I tried with ‘Socialism’ and no good came of it, yet here I am again, thinking this time… Surely… If they only knew how insulting they were being they would stop. After all, people want to be good. They don’t want to do others harm. This is all based on ignorance, not intent, and once corrected we’ll all hold hands and sing some f*cking kumbaya up in here!

Nah, it’ll never work. But it’s a beautiful dream.

  23. Chaim says:

    Gerbil, is still in therapy.

  24. xpertguitarist says:

Look, Beck isn’t a racist. Beck is a great guy. He is a recovering alcoholic, and he made some stupid mistakes. Who here hasn’t made a stupid mistake when they were young/drunk?

    • Sammy says:

Apparently not MLK. He was too busy going to school and working to end segregation.

      • xpertguitarist says:

As far as we know. And by the way, Beck left dropped out of college after one course because that’s all he could afford.

        • The Amazing Rando says:

Then why the hell did he bother with the one course?

          • dissimilitude says:

Perhaps a better question, why the hell not consider a more moderately priced institution of higher learning?

            • The Amazing Rando says:

Very true. I was wondering that part too. You could probably get an entire degree’s worth of education at my first college for the same price as one semester at Yale.

  25. xpertguitarist says:

Oh and by the way, The Other 98% is an organization that is supported by, among other groups, MoveOn.org, which recieves donations from George Soros, who is a Socialist.

  26. dan_144 says:

So why is it not okay for Glenn Beck to ponder killing Michael Moore, but it’s okay for Sarah Spitz to want Rush Limbaugh to have a heart attack? Seems a little bit strange…

    • xpertguitarist says:

I know right? There is a huge double standard here.

    • The Amazing Rando says:

Who said that’s okay? Limbaugh is jackass, but I for one don’t want him to die. That’s mean.

      • dan_144 says:

This is beating up Beck because he pondered killing someone, but when the same thing happened, not much was said about it. Nobody said it was okay, but nobody said it was wrong. When you say “Limbaugh is jackass” you mean “I disagree with Limbaugh”

        Right?

        • The Amazing Rando says:

No, I mean Limbaugh is a jackass.

          • I Like Peanut Butter and Boobie Friday says:

Way too big to be a jackas$. I mean come on a typical donkey weighs about 500 lbs, Limbaugh is at least a ton or a ton and a half. Maybe he’s a Clydesdale?

            • The Amazing Rando says:

He’s not a Clydesdale. Those things are pretty cool looking. Rush is not pretty cool looking.

              • I Like Peanut Butter the Anti-Rando says:

Ok then he’s a mutated jack a$s due to the foul slime coming out of Washington DC (from both sides of the aisle).

                • dan_144 says:

That’s a wonderful argument someone. They’re fat. Clever. Anyway, how exactly is Limbaugh a jackass? I’m not the only one who has to present proof on this site, right?

    • Paws4thot, the PK Booty Caller and founder of the AANM says:

Big clue; there are statutes about homicide, but none about cardiac events, and indeed the right to think whant you want and even say it as long as you do not advocate illegal acts is enshrined in the First.

      • dan_144 says:

You missed the point. The point is that it’s not okay for Beck to want someone to die, but it’s okay for Spitz to want someone to die? Sees a little suspicious.

  27. Archer916 says:

wow! more left wing bull crap.
MLK Jr: has all of his best achievements
Beck: “ponders killing Micheal Moore”, list of pranks he’s done, cutting off his ponytail….. way to try and find his “best” achievements.. you have him hosting ‘morning zoo’ but dont even mention his current show or any of the books he’s written.

    • reality check says:

wow… another reich wing talking head. Feel free to research and post your own version of events showing what a wonderful person Mr. Beck is.

  28. Emmy says:

They forgot to mention Martin Luther King Jr.’s mistresses.

  29. Freemustard says:

Why has “the race/racist card” been so used lately? Because no one likes to think rationally anymore.
