       I’m Indian and I find this ritual (it’s called “beating the retreat”, by the way – not intended to be hostile as far as I know) ugly and pointless. I’d rather have a garden or memorial to commemorate the 12 million displaced and million who died when India was divided. (sorry for being so serious, but I find it hard to be funny about the India-Pakistan border ).
