A turtle walks by the site of today’s launch of the space shuttle Endeavor. Man, turtles don’t even care, do they? The epitome of human knowledge, aspiration, and technology as we outstretch our arms to the celestial heavens, and that turtle doesn’t even throw a sideways glance. Bet it would just shrug to hear that this is the final flight of Endeavor, which has taken us to the stars 25 times now since 1992. Just keep crossing those rocks, turtle, you’re so hard to please.

The Donald officially announced today that he will not seek the office of the presidency in 2012:
After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half-heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.
… so just throwing it out there that, ya know, he could’ve won. Farewell The Donald! I seriously doubt this will be the last we hear from you, or even affect the frequency at which we hear from you, or change anything at all. I wish we could quit you.

President of the International Monetary Fund and French election candidate Dominique Strauss-Kahn was arrested in JFK Airport on Sunday after allegedly raping a hotel maid. Strauss-Kahn was favored to beat Nicolas Sarkozy on the Socialist Party ticket in next year’s election. I have the option of making a totally offensive joke about room service right here but I will respectfully decline. Non merci.
