  1. rational man says:

Yeah, but Spock is mixed-race, and we know how Republicans, “independents” and “libertarians” feel about such individuals…

    • 6ToedCatsRule says:

Spock is not “Mixed Race”; he’s a pointy eared, green blooded, half breed.

    • Mike says:

Wow, you are a hater and a bigot.

      • MrsQ of Philadelphia says:

actually, I think he’s accusing other people of that.

        • Nailin Palin says:

Yes, pointing out the bigotry of Republicans makes you a hater.

          • Whatever says:

Yeah, because Republicans didn’t vote for Obama because of his mixed race, not at all because he is a Democrat.

            • H3xx says:

Given his recent decisions, can you really claim that that he’s a Democrat? What makes you think he’s not a closet Republican? I would think a Democrat would fight a little more before caving in and giving Republicans everything they want.

              • Whatever says:

He didn’t exactly campaign on caving in to the Republicans or more Republicans might have voted for him. Maybe he can use that as his campaign platform for his re-election. Yes We Can Acquiesce To Your Requests! Of course Cap and Trade and Obamacare are not going to go away very easily and neither of those little nuggets are very popular among Republicans.

              • Curmudgeoon says:

What makes you think there’s any real difference? Of course, if one examines the statements of certain prominent members of each party, it seems that the parties are misnamed. One is actually the Christian Theocratic Party, the other the American Socialist Party. The same sort of things seem to be happening in Washington, however, regardless of which party is in “power.”

                • Duncan says:

I wouldn’t call the Republicans “Socialists” … oh, pardon me, my mistake. But the Democrats aren’t socialists either. They’re every bit as pro-corporate as the Republicans, possibly even more so. (Wall Street was not happy with the Republicans’ conduct during the debt ceiling debacle, you’ll remember.) If you want to claim that Obama’s a Socialst, then you’d have to say the same of Reagan and Bush. But maybe you would.

              • Basara549 says:

You really need to cut back on your drugs, H3xx, if you think ANY of his decisions make him look like a closet Republican. In your blind hatred you conflate things with Republicans that are not actually believed or done by them.

And if you think that Obama is doing nothing but caving to the Republicans, by that standard Lincoln was constantly caving to the southern democrats and FDR to the Republicans. It’s almost the exact opposite of reality.

He’s a Closet Fascist, maybe, or tool of the Chicago machine (with organized crime pulling the puppet strings), but not Republican or Democrat.

      • forge says:

No once again, and see if you can get it right this time ‘cuz I’ve said it a lot lately, pointing out bigotry in other people is not bigotry.

      • Lee says:

Your sarcasm detector is clearly in need of adjustment.

    • LeftHook says:

Yeah, and let’s see his birth certificate.

    • formeraide says:

Libertarianism has absolutely nothing to do with race.

      And independents??!!!

      • Vikavid says:

Yeah, I was gonna say, WTH is with the brush broad enough to paint the side of a barn in one stroke?

      • Lee says:

Libertarians insist that businesses should be able to discriminate on the basis of race, and one of their goals is to abolish anti-discrimination laws completely. I wouldn’t say that has nothing to do with race.

        • Whatever says:

Libertarians are for the elimination of racial quotas. That isn’t the same as being in favor of discrimination. Racial quotas are mandated discrimination against anyone that doesn’t fall into the pre-defined group that is being targeted in the quota.

You also have to understand that libertarians want to eliminate all kinds of rules, regulations, and restrictions that are currently in place in our “free market” system so that natural market forces can be allowed to function as they should rather than the manipulated market that we have now. It’s not a targeted racial thing, it’s a desire to see a truly free market.

          • forge says:

So that regulation will be out of the way and whoever has the most money can do whatever they want. FTFY

          • Duncan says:

“Racial quotas” are vanishingly rare, so it’s not exactly a strong policy for libertarians to oppose them. Affirmative action almost never requires quotas. The 1965 Civil Rights act wasn’t an affirmative action law, either — it simply forbade racial (and other) discrimination in a few narrow domains. Affirmative action was something else.

But you’re correct that libertarians don’t necessarily favor discrimination; they just don’t think that the government should do anything about it. Still, if you want to defend libertarians, you should get the rest of your facts right.

    • uckfay says:

There’s only 2 kinds of people I hate in this world. People who generalize, and liberals.

Thankfully, Democrats, “liberals” and “independents” are very open minded – they elected a guy who is both mentally challenged AND African American. WTG

  2. Greycat says:

    I would vote for him….

      • formeraide says:

I don’t want something going through Pan Farr with his finger on the button.

        • Orly? says:

Lol. Yeah, we might as well elect a woman.

Hm… What an idea. Alas, the only woman I’d elect for president in the current political climate has proven to be a better Secretary of State for Obama than she potentially would have been president. Hillary Clinton’s one hell of a diplomat and politician. (GO WELLESLEY WOMEN!)

          • Vikavid says:

Just saying (possibly in a double post due to the speaker’s name), “Former vice president D!ck Cheney hinted that Hillary Clinton might have been a better choice for president during an interview with Fox News on Sunday.”

(note: to read the full article, change the ! in his name in the link to “i”.

          • Archer says:

@Lol. Yeah, we might as well elect a woman.

            T’Pol? Hmmm…..

        • formeraide says:

          *Pon Farr

        • keshet the adequate says:

Meh, they only go through it every 7 years. We just need to have him disclose when the last time was that he went into heat. Depending on the timing it’ll only be a problem if he gets re-elected.

        • Archer says:

          Hahaha Now that’s comedy!

      • RodneyMmKay says:

Archer there is no way you would vote for him based on the views you’ve aired.

You do know what The Federation is yeah?

I’ll give you a hint. It starts with an S.

        • itsybit says:

It’s also, wait for it…. complete fantasy!!

        • Sammael says:

Actually its not socialist or communist.
Federation’s economy is post-need economy where status is determined on expertise. Whole different ballgame.
Basically, in a world that has industrial and personal replicators, and near infinite energy, property and ownership become insignificant. Now add to that extremly high standard of living, colonisation and world war 3, and you come to very low population. So owning land becomes less of an issue too. In such society money and property are completly unimportant because anyone can have anything.
On the other hand, expertise become highly valued.

  3. MrsQ of Philadelphia says:

    Live Long and Prosper.

A political platform we ALL can agree on!

  4. CaliKitty says:

Where do i sign up to volunteer?

    • Orly? says:

Call the NCC-1701 via a communicator/iPhone. You may have to talk to Spock’s publicist. He talks a bit bizarrely, but you’ll probably be able to talk to someone … sane, like the Chief Medical Officer instead of the aforementioned “Captain.”

  5. Zartab the GayChiCommunIslamist Propagandist says:

What makes anyone think Americans are amenable to logic and reason?

OBAMA IS A MUSLIM! THE GOVERNMENT PULLED OFF 9/11!

  6. uckfay says:

The real question is: Kirk or Picard for VP

  7. kake79 says:

We could use a little more logic and reason in politics.

    … ok, a LOT more.

What about Sulu for VP? Or Uhura (the original, not the remake ’cause it’d just be weird to have the Prez and the VP sleeping together)?

  8. INS says:

That birth certificate wil never pass muster.

  9. Rizz Rustbolt says:

    Vulcans never bluff.

  10. CaliKitty says:

Well, born in the USA or not, I’d like to see Data as VP. And Counselor Troi as Secretary of State – she’d be perfect.

  11. Nancy Hartshorn says:

Obviously Spock cannot be President because he wasn’t born in the USA, he was born on Vulcan. Nancy

  12. Robby Garner says:

The photo shows the StarFleet emblem for the command division, but in fact Spock is a member of the sciences division. I think this is a hoax.

    • Reality-Check says:

Spock was a Captain in the command division in five of the six films starring the original cast. He wasn’t born in America however :)

  13. Avaka says:

Not so much the photo-edit and caption as it is the comments that have me laughing so hard I can’t see.

  14. Chuck says:

I believe form many of the comments here that several of you are OUT OF YOUR VULCAN MINDS.

Vote for Spock – The logical choice.

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one”

  15. cshaggy says:

    ..Spock for Ambassador..
