Morale Murals

political pictures - world war i - soldiers - Morale Murals

Check out these amazing living murals created by U.S. soldiers during World War I! Each picture was created using more than 15,000 men but took only 30 minutes to get everyone into position. Have to be honest, this is a lot cooler use of their spare time than asking celebrities out on YouTube.

I have one of these in the shape of the Stars & Stripes. It was created at Great Lakes Naval Training Center – Chicago, IL at the same time as these.

Hey, shouldn’t they be off, oh I don’t know, fighting WWI instead of using tax dollars to create pictures made out of soldiers?

Because blowing things up and killing and dying in various gruesome ways is a much better use of tax dollars?

It’s called propaganda and patriotism, it fuels wars more than bullets and guns do.

Also, it should be noted that not all of them were sent over at the start of the war, (they held a lottery to see who would have the honor, in fact,) so these were likely the men waiting to be shipped out.

This is one of the reasons I love the U.S. Military.
