I wonder how long it will take a CoD Fanboy to pick out all the differences…
also, at first I thought they both were the real box art
I see a variety of small things such as equipment placing on the vest, but the only big one is the wrong weapon, used M4 in place of M16 (longer barrel).
Hey. Penny, lookie! Anyway, I still dont see how the models went from this, to the MW3 paper mache crap, max graphics looks like the seconds low…
It doesn’t take a CoD fanboy to pick out all the differences. The two pictures are right next to each other. A simple google search will tell you which is the real one (the right btw). From there on it’s a simple “Find the Differences” game.
“In one, you take one hit and you’re down, in the other, you get shot in the head by a shotgun and just hide behind a rock for a few seconds while it regenerates.”
lol, well you can potentially take multiple hits in the former version and still be going. Body armor, helmets, and all that jazz you know.
Potentially, but generally when you get shot by anybody with half decent aim, you’re going to be out of commission unless somebody walks in front of you.
Unless it’s a sniper, you generally aim for a person’s body. Modern troops are outfitted with body armor of some degree. Depending on the caliber of bullet used, the soldier will be able to shrug it off, get the wind knocked out of them, or die. The ballistic plates in the standard issue body armor can stop up to three AK-47 rounds (.762 I believe). But we’re talking about the AK-47 here. Even assuming that the enemy can actually aim, the gun isn’t exactly the poster child in accuracy.
With automatic or semiautomatic weapons. Also, snipers are taught to always go for center mass unless it’s a high-priority, stationary target (such as a General). Also, the AK-47 is very outdated, and most armies who used them have upgraded to the AK-74 or the AK-74u, both of which are more accurate and powerful while maintaining the ease of use and maintenance, while the latter sacrifices a bit of both in favor of a smaller profile for urban combat.
I didn’t know that our troops were facing a formal military in Afghanistan. Also, what does automatic or semi-automatic have to do with anything here. We’re talking one hit ie one bullet.
As for snipers, while it may be true that a sniper is taught to aim center mass, there have been sniper tactics that included shooting in other areas besides just the body or even the head. One tactic includes indiscriminately shooting at civilians, generally in a “non-lethal” portion of the body. This has been done recently in the past few years by imported Syrian snipers in Iraq. I would guess it’s also being done in Syria today assuming some of those snipers made it back home alive.
Apologies, still a bit sick, so some of my sentence structure is incoherent, and I never recall typing that bit.
Which bit?
“With automatic or semiautomatic weapons.” Can’t figure YOU WILL ALL DIE out where I was going with HE COMES that.
You guys are funny…
The AK-74 is more accurate, and has a faster cyclic rate. It is not, however, more powerful. It uses the exact same round (7.62mm) as it’s predecessor. It is also more difficult to maintain as it uses a hydraulic piston to manage recoil, giving it more accuracy. It is still the same basic frame as the 47, and still one of the most reliable assault rifles currently in production.
With that in mind, the SCAR by FN has the capability to use the same round as the AK-47 and same magazine. But it’s standard configuration uses the 5.56mm NATO round, and is extremely easy to maintain. Off topic, but it’s one of my interests.
The ak-74 actually uses the 5.45x39mm round. Which is much smaller. The advantage being the ability to carry more ammunition. But it is in fact less powerful.
I was watching the military channel and they actually gave the top ranking battle rifle of all time to the AK-47 over the M16. I was disappointed. Some of the factors included length of service and I think the number of conflicts or number of countries who have adopted it, so that’s what gave it the edge.
I would think reliability would factor as well. I knew an Afghan immigrant who fought in the Soviet Afghan war and he said when your AK started to overheat you just dunked it in water, pulled it back out, and kept on firing.
Probably because the M-16 really isn’t all that great…
It’s unreliable. Horrible for any sort of dusty/sandy environment. Without CONSTANT care, it won’t do it’s job. It is accurate as f***, though. Plus, it’s kind of like carying a tree trunk around with you…
H&K has a good upgrade for the weapon platform though. And you can replace the M4/M16 upper receiver with the HK M 416 or 556 onto the lower receiver.
Reliability was a factor as was accuracy. The M16 received higher marks for accuracy and lower marks than the AK for reliability/ durability. One of the reasons sighted was how easy an AK was to keep functional while the M-16 had to be cleaned regularly to keep it in service. Good to see you around by the way. Are you back in the states?
The M4 has come a long way in the reliability category, over the M16 as well. But all in all, they pale in comparison to the AK-47. And not just in reliability, but in knock down. Where the M16/M4 frame has always excelled is how the round is constructed to cause a tumble, creating more damage per round, as it will hit the target and keep tumbling.
Yeah, I’ve been back for a few months, just been busy…
Armed Assault II: Project Reality
F^^^ yeah, the ArmA series is easily the best war game out there.
Eh, Project Reality for Battlefield 2 tops it IMHO.
What am I even looking at here?
The real box-art on the right, and a picture/photoshop job by soldiers on the left. I’d say they did an awesome job. You can tell it’s different from the lighting/more visible MOLLE vest, etc., but holy crap. You’d think that graphic design was a part of training.
They could be a reservist who may be a graphic designer outside of the military.
Or maybe people in the military are more than just uneducated cold-blodded killers that have nothing else going for them in their lives….
