  1. Archer says:

About 3 yrs after the election and she still makes liberals mortified.
They claim she was nothing, barely a foot note in history, not worth reporting on. Yet, we have many SNL skits about her and now, what appears to be, a HBO feature?

    Say it ain’t so!

Sarah Palin as president, still galactically better than who is there now.

  2. MrsQ of Philadelphia says:

Please tell me she didn’t have full creative control over this…

And if she did, then I’d like to introduce: SPINAL TAP!!!

In the new version, the ignorance would be turned up to 11.

    • Whatever says:

I have a feeling if Woody Harrelson is in this, that it is not her authorized version of events nor did she have any say in the creative process.

    • Whatever says:

I just looked into it. This is HBO/ Director Jay Roach’s second political film together. The first was “Recount” and guess what year it was released? 2008. Something else was going on in 2008…what was it? Now, for 2012…something else is happening this year too…we get another biased “fact-based” movie that is aimed at something. But what could it be?

        Typical Hollywood propaganda crap.

        • Geary says:

To be fair, most Typical Hollywood Crap is in the form of action movies and romantic comedies.

          • itsybit says:

Yes, but this is a special form of Hollywood Crap, known as propaganda in which they specialize close to election time.

            • Geary says:

It’s also not very cost effective, since relatively few people actually go to see it and it only really earns revenue when it goes to Pay-Per View and political science majors are bored on a Saturday Night.

              • itsybit says:

Well that’s because of the quality which is why it is referred to as crap.

                • Geary says:

I don’t recall anybody I know having every gone to a movie about current/recent politics.

                • Republican Pollyanna says:

                  Meh.

People choose to see movies. Don’t like it? Don’t pay to see it.
Propaganda is when China has required attendance at patriotic rallies.
                  You see the difference, right?

                  • MrsQ of Philadelphia says:

DOH! Sorry. I left my Pollyanna on.

                  • Whatever says:

That’s a very narrow definition you are working with there. Would it have been propaganda if Sarah Palin had written the script?

                    • Geary says:

If I recall, the general definition of propaganda was some form of art meant to make a political point, such as film, paintings, sculpture, etc etc.

                      • Whatever says:

It’s not always art, maybe media would be more accurate. Using this definition:
Any kind of data including graphics, images, audio and video, though typically excluding raw text or executable code.
There can be a lot of propaganda in art, but it can also be found in public service announcements, advertising, news, speeches, etc.

It also goes a little further than just making a political point. It is differentiated from disseminating information in that it either adds to or takes away from the facts in an effort to persuade.

You could say that brushing your teeth 3 times a day is good for you. On the surface, it seems like disseminating information. But, what if research showed that brushing 3 times a day actually broke down the enamel causing more cavities and tooth decay. Then you found out that the ADA was the group behind the public service announcements to brush 3 times a day in an attempt to bring in more business. Then it becomes propaganda.

                    • Teal Deer says:

if palin had written the script, it’d be filled with such nonsensical ramblings as to make me look good.

plus, no director worth his salt would give serious credence to a script written in crayon.

                  • DevAd says:

Propaganda doesn’t require a captive audience.

                    • Whatever says:

Too true. One of our most iconic pieces of propaganda during WWII was the war reports that they showed before a movie in the theaters.

  3. Missplaced_NewYorker says:

Personally I think that Tina Fey impersonator would’ve done better.

  4. Emily says:

It’s gonna be the best comedy on television!

  5. uckfay says:

Three vocally and fiercely anti-Republican actors playing the parts of Republicans in a movie about an election. I’m sure this film will absolutely nail it. I was going to try to draw an analogy, but I couldn’t think of a vocally and fiercely anti-Democrat actor that is still alive.
