Fears over radiation leakage from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear facility sparked a run on iodized salt in China. Taking iodine pills before or during radiation exposure can protect you from developing thyroid cancer.
However, according to NPR:
You’d have to consume 3 1/2 pounds of iodized salt to obtain the 130 milligrams of iodine that’s contained in a single tablet of potassium iodide for use in a radiation emergency, according to the Salt Institute.
3 1/2 pounds of salt? Nothing to worry about over here in the US of A, then. I’m going to Chick-A-Fila.

Left: CCTV exercise video – Right: Top Gun scenes via Yahoo! Movies
From Urbanatomy:
A few days ago the state-run TV channel used film they said was taken at a Jan. 23 air force exercise, but someone online pointed out that the supposed Chinese airplane in the video was actually an American model. Oopsies… Then the internet started working its magic: People put the stills together and, well, what aired on CCTV is identical to stills from Top Gun.
